We have 2 of these. A nice, semi-open veranda that they can sleep on that’s not cold.
One actually has a home but apparently is terrified of it because he always comes back.
Feel guilty of stealing a cat.
You didn’t steal a cat.
A cat decided to move.
Maybe you can just establish communication with his other family so they know he’s visiting you and not hit by a car. Sometimes a noisy bunch of kids can cause a cat to run away, even though they love him.

He tried, they said “meow!”
Did, they’re not thrilled but he’s just not willing to go back, they know he’s OK and we took him back a few times.
Glad he found the right people to take him in.
We don’t know why he hates it there so much and loves it here, he was happily staying in the barn over the cold winter, we let him in sometimes, he even let’s our daughter play with him and she’s a terror.
Can’t imagine what happened at his house to make him hate it so much.
Cats love having affairs. My mum’s cats most certainly get some food and attention from a neighbour sometimes.
But talking to the owners definitely can’t hurt.
We have, they know, we bring him back, he just loves it here for some reason. Think he’s in love with one of ours.
Cats don’t have owners, they have human servants.
I met my “timeshare” cat cuz the grump was stealing carrots and got stuck in the greenhouse. Fond memories there. Still don’t know what he did with them. I like to think he brought them to some other thoroughly confused human as tribute.
Just keep him inside! He’s like “bro why’d you kick me out??” You domesticated him and then left him
Tamed, rather than domesticated
Obviously working off the same information as you, but it sounds more like he stopped him from leaving during the winter, and didn’t stop him after. Kitty made his choices and regrets them now.
You don’t let a cat outside when it wants to go outside, their instincts tell them they need to survey everything they can see, my cat is EAGER to run out the door and then he gets outside and is terrified and wants to go hide. Not every cat is terrified but once you have an indoor cat, it’s an INDOOR cat.
Been there. Eventually we had to stop letting him leave though because he brought fleas in. Twice.
Actually it might’ve been three times
Flea collars are cheap.
The cheap flee collars do not work, and if the cat was even semi-feral good luck getting any collar on it. Tropical is usually best, but stuff that works is also not cheap.
I often find going to the tropics solves most of my problems!
In all seriousness, I totally agree that topical is the way to go.
Lol I’m leaving it, it’s to damn funny
Why would you want to damn funny? Seems like a path to a joyless existence, friend. Be the change you want to see…
What does work are anti flea drops you put on their neck, where they can’t reach. Lasts a month or so and kills fleas and ticks. My mum’s cats are outside a lot and they never have fleas or ticks, when my mum doesn’t forget putting the frontline drops on.
Flee collars just make them run away.
The 1 person down voting does not have a sense of humour
give him the wet food!!
So the cat distribution system also works when the cat then goes off… interesing!
that happened
