      Does Warhammer realize that though

I think we’re probably some ~20 years out from the last time Warhammer was seriously (ha) a parody.

        Exactly this.

Warhammer is now what the Empire was parodying in the fiction.

A bloated system run by bureaucrats, keeping things exactly the same, because everyone involved in the creation, and who understands what made it good, is now gone.

Except instead of scores of over-zealous inquisitors they have a massive over-zealous legal team.

The game stopped improving in a meaningful way years ago. There are similar alternative systems that are more fun. Minis are available for a fraction of the price. Games Workshop’s entire M.O. nowadays is to make sure that as few people as possible catch on.

Their bullshit around pricing is what irks me the most. 500 percent markup with no justification is an abuse to their player base. Like it’s not bad enough you have to assemble and paint which requires further investment (part of the fun but making a point) but they charge you as if they’re assembling and painting them for you. I really wanted to get into it, but realizing all the layers just to be able to play, and then at the end of the road if you do invest all that time/money there’s some meta fuckwit that’s been in it long enough to figure out which faction is the most broken / OP and just wipes the table with your ass while smiling smugly over a rulebook. Literally no desire at this point to even invest. /rant I do enjoy the books/lore/shows bits though. Video games aren’t half bad either. Space Marine 2 was a fuckin blast.

It absolutely started as one. Toriyama started it was a sorta sex comedy. Not so much about sex happening, but it’s full of perverts and shallow people trying to get it on or not understanding sex and gender.

Goku doesn’t know what a woman is, wonders why Bulma has a butt on her chest, and is shocked to find her balls “fell off”.

Bulma wants to use the all mighty wish granting Dragon Balls to find a boyfriend. She’s already rich. She also tries to flirt with a handsome red ribbon army general only for him to reject her because he’s gay.

Master Roshi is just a (Powerful) old pervert, who happened to gain unaging type immortality but did so while already old.

Killing doesn’t have a nose. This won him a fight in a tournament because the enemy used stench from never bathing and putting his hands down his underwear then using said hand as a disgusting smelly weapon. Krillin can’t smell.

Goku is based off of Son Wukong, has both the nimbus cloud and the Ruyi Jingu Bang. Additionally, has later wife is the daughter of the Ox King, also from Journey to the West.

There’s a tie in to Dr Slump, another of Toriyama’s comedy mangas.

Dragon Ball starts off extremely unserious, then got a bit more serious towards the end and lost much of its comedy in DBZ.

And regained comedy through DBZ abridged, one of if not the best abridged series ever made.

I didn’t know Master Roshi was unaging (anymore) or that Killin really doesn’t have a nose. Thought the lack of nose was just a drawing style thing.

The early stuff sounds a lot more entertaining!

Dragonball (not Z) is pretty funny and goofy. Early DBZ is also kind of goofy, but steadily takes the fights more seriously over each arc. Characters like Mr. Satan and Bu bring back some of the goofball comedy in later episodes, but the ratio of funny to fighting is basically flipped from DB to DBZ.

I think that’s actually what it was, then got made into a joke. I also forgot about the reverse werewolf, wolfman or whatever. He wanted to kill Jackie Chun(Master Roshi in disguise)because he blew up the moon(yes, same moon Picollo later blew up again. Kami put it back together after getting rid of Goku’s tail). His real reason?

He’s a wolfman who turns human during the full moon, and now he cant get a girlfriend. So they use Krillin’s bald head to fake being the moon and he transforms… Into a human uglier than his wolf form. He’s happy but Krillin comments he probably had a better chance as a wolfman.
