For the 50th time: CEOs are Not a valid source for truth

Oooof, this “research” is just so very reductive.
“Not even like a wave to a barista, not somebody also checking for ripeness of the avocados at the grocery store,” says Emanuel. “Just no human contact at all.”
Hot take: waving at a barista or witnessing a fellow shopper check avocados doesn’t count as “human contact”.
Remote workers aren’t making up for that lost social connection by socializing after work, she adds. “We even see a decrease in spending time with friends after the work day relative to people in non-remotable occupations.”
Shouting extra loud for the people in the back: We’re in the middle of an affordability crisis, you idiots, and there are way fewer Third Places around than ever before!!
Commuting solves nothing, and only exasperates a whole host of other issues.
If we’re serious about improving mental health, the last thing anyone should be recommending is Office Jobs
You may have valid justifications for your inclination in this regard
Probably. Perhaps he’s realized that nepotism is a successful methodology for getting ahead in life. But maybe he should have tried being born into a more wealthy family, instead of blaming others.

Hopefully they’ll continue utilising Outrage as the Prime Engagement Metric, so that when I start swearing loudly at annoying scammy ads, they’ll assume that means I’m “engaged”, and that’s good, so they’ll serve me more and more ragebait
Anon sounds entitled AF. Has he tried not relying on nepotism for getting ahead?

You’re not missing anything. Execs have bought into AI hype and consider it a given that AI will be transformative, so they’re not bothering to think about use cases or real world applications. After all, the “user” is beneath them; so the user should just be happy and grateful for the opportunity.

I did it because business is changing, and to win the future, Cloudflare needs to change with it.
It’s a shame that they’ll never actually “win the future” considering they will never make enough profit to be satisfied. “Winning” isn’t something that can be achieved if enough profit is never enough and more is always required.

Thanks for doing this!

The culture of corporate of PR insists that not only do meaningless canned responses help, but they’re invaluable. After all, the media will faithfully record those canned replies and reproduce them as though they’re salient information, no matter how empty and vapid the cloud of buzzwords produced.
“Don’t give a shit” is a rather harsh phrasing. I’ve read three of her stories and also enjoyed them, but didn’t find them too compelling. And that’s fine; not every book or author is a perfect match for everyone, and not every genre perfectly translates for all readers.
I definitely see the appeal of her work, and I’m grateful for her contributions to the general SF/fantasy genres. I like that more “cozy” works like hers exist, and are popular. But also, it’s just not the kind of reading I’m into, and so be it.

And in 10 years, he’ll still be saying that it’s 10 years off

He has no way to respond to legitimate criticisms other than by invoking imaginary strawmen
This is the future that Sam Altman wants

You know, a link would be far more useful than a text advert telling people to visit a site and run a specific query.
Well now I kind of want to see it! What about it was particularly noteworthy, or was it just the modern “meh” of spectacle without plot?
