I’ll never have kids.
My niece though will have a thorough education on sailing the high seas when she’s old enough to choose media on her own.

seems I’m too boomer for this shit, apparently phones count as “personal computers”.
https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/
look at this graph and tell me that mac os is “dominant”.
(the numbers for those who don’t want to click the link)
Android = 43.86%
Windows = 27.97%
iOS = 17.8%
OS X = 5.64% (when did they stop calling it mac os?)
unknown = 1.96%
Linux = 1.44% (we’re still last place guys!)
In order for a 3rd option to be viable, the entire system must change. I’m not holding my breath.
Between now and then, all we can do is vote for the less bad of two evils.
when was the last time you installed windows? Also, what version? If you’ve only ever had it set up for you, then you may have only used windows that had already been cleaned of all the bullshit. This includes pc s provided by your work.
For win10, the install iso provided by microsoft puts ads for games in the windows store in the default start menu. I have installed many win10 pc s over the years, and candy crush (among others) is always there.
solved for quite some time. it gets mixed with concrete and stuck in a bigger concrete container called a “dry cask”.
Link, because I believe in “outsourcing critical thinking”.
Ooof. I hope that’s a stain and not heat discoloration, otherwise that’s not a sword, but a sword-shaped wall decoration.
why don’t people use krita? Gimp may be the most famous photoshop alternative, but I almost never hear anyone talk about others that may potentially be better.
I’m an idiot making a thing, and I need to pick a license. Where’s a good place to talk to people more knowledgeable than myself on the subject?
EDIT: so my thing isn’t software, i probably should have mentioned that. I am making a ruleset and setting for something similar to but not exactly a tabletop rpg. The ORC license sounds promising, but the legalese makes my brain gray out. ChatGPT tells me to use a version of the Creative Commons license, but ChatGPT isn’t exactly reliable.
Exactly. If there’s anything that we can point to and say “humanity, fuck yeah” this is it. Giving thanks to aliens or to gods is an insult to the hard work of the HUMANS that accomplished this.
Breaking News: Person breaks rules of competition and wins; disqualified after admitting they cheated.
I stand by what I said, and adding the current buzzword of the year doesn’t change it.
…
no shit?
No seriously, why is this news?
Thanks bro
krita is pretty good. Not as good as photoshop, but it’s 85% there and doesn’t do bullshit adobe things. There’s an addon for it that brings photoshop like ai tools using stable diffusion, and runs entirely locally.
Shit, I’d still be using xp if they let me.
yes, but it should be opt-in not opt-out. It should not exist in my os unless I install it myself.
I could apply this line to so many things microsoft put into windows since xp.
Dynamic Range Compression. VLC player has it, possibly under a different name though. Set it up on my theater pc, and I almost don’t need subtitles anymore.
chrome used to be good. Emphasis on the past tense.
Firefox was always good. Chrome was very briefly better. Firefox has not suffered enshittification like chrome did.
I used firefox back in the day because it was better than IE, switched to chrome because of the convenience and features. I recently switched to brave because chrome became such a pain. If brave shits the bed because of this, I’m going back to firefox.
This is the year of the linux desktop!
By our powers combined, we’ll exceed 2% market share!
(no actually, please support linux. I just switched like a month ago and while it’s so much better than windows there are so many petty annoyances that will never get resolved unless more people bitch about it and that kind of support needs more users)
