Oh man, I quite remember enjoying Birth By Sleep, but it seems I’m in the minority.

Technology@lemmy.world•PlayStation fans brutally reject Sony's disc decision, eye Windows 11 PCs over XboxEnglish
2·3 months agoI can’t see these gaining more popularity over Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo if they are only sticking to do retro. From my understanding, most indie companies want maximum reach for their games, especially for the amount of time and money they put into things.

Technology@lemmy.world•PlayStation fans brutally reject Sony's disc decision, eye Windows 11 PCs over XboxEnglish
2·3 months agoMy question becomes what would limited run games create the games to play on in the future? PS6 will likely not have a physical game option if I had to guess. Nintendo Switch 2 just came out, so that may be the last console to support physical games. I guess we’d be stuck using old machines. Given how powerful current systems are, that may be enough for indie studios.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•One thing I think Lemmy is missing: recurring community eventsEnglish
0·3 months agoI wouldn’t say I have the most experience in the fundraising part. It usually starts with getting a group of like-minded people together, pooling whatever money/resources you have together to kickstart some stuff. One you have a meetup/group with some traction then you start looking at what kind of grants are available in the area, since sometimes you have options. Going to local shops in your neighborhood that are willing to donate food/time also helps. Ultimately it comes down to how many people you know and how well you can network.

0·3 months agoAs someone who helps organize events in person, it’s a lot of work, especially if it’s for free. While I appreciate seeing people with ideas, there needs to be more people that volunteer to help execute said ideas.

Technology@lemmy.world•Digg’s open beta shuts down after just two months, blaming AI bot spamEnglish
3·7 months agoI think I had read somewhere that they would eventually have ads, but that may have just been member speculation.
Maybe if they go down the Apollo route they could have some sub tiers, but we’ll see.

Technology@lemmy.world•Digg’s open beta shuts down after just two months, blaming AI bot spamEnglish
3·7 months agoI don’t think many of the niche communities really had time to thrive, since people were trying to build up a lot of the main ones. I think some were starting to just get traction, which could be a reason why they chose now, stopping before it really got away from them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Digg’s open beta shuts down after just two months, blaming AI bot spamEnglish
13·7 months agoThere were entire communities popping up dedicated to SEO and advertising. A lot of the spam would happen during the US night time, so they’d have to wake up every morning to sweeping away all the crap. Really curious on how they intend to handle the bots.

0·7 months agoIt’s interesting hearing “There’s nothing on Digg it’s dead, fediverse is more active” because when I joined Lemmy people were using the same comparison of reddit vs the fediverse. Things take time to build and they are still in beta. Lemmy is way more active and settled than when I first joined (hell I originally joined kbin instead). It’s good to have competition. I am active on both and I believe they will have different demographics.

2·8 months agoI actually did proofread a few times. By now I think I’ve had to admit to myself that I may have mild dyslexia, and should see about getting diagnosed. I usually have to read through something multiple times, and even then, typos will remain. I do appreciate you pointing it out though! I’ve updated the title.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Let's talk about clickbait and sources when postingEnglish
0·8 months agoAs much as I dislike ai, this is why I enjoyed the short lived “Artifact” news website (Yahoo bought them out). Their feed had a feature where you could report a click bait title and it would use ai to turn it into a normal sentence. If enough people clicked it, that would become how it was seen by people. I really dislike people using the click bait title on the fediverse, but it’s a symptom of the internet today as a whole.

Given how the modern day stock market works, does it really matter? I’m sure most of us get elated when a headline like this floats around, but unfortunately Tesla is not going anywhere anytime soon.
