Six former WWE writers have accused their old boss and workplace of fostering a hostile workplace built on fear, abuse, and sexism. In a new report from Rolling Stone, the former writers paint a toxic picture of WWE’s internal culture, one that’s “ruled by fear,” trickling downward from disgraced former CEO Vince McMahon.
I feel for like the average wrestling fan that follows multiple promotions this has been known for literal decades. Just countless stories of writers or production staff or talent that have all said that place was incredibly hostile. Hell even Freddie Prinze Jr worked there as a writer for a bit and even he got treated like shit. There were dudes who used to take shits in other peoples bags. they literally had fights on planes in mid air. All of this McMahon embraced and encouraged.
One reason I actually decided to check out what WWE was doing was because I heard McMahon got chased out. He was a huge reason for why I stopped watching 20 years ago. Shit just kept getting weirded and stupider the older McMahon got.
I remember hearing that Mick Foley became a commentator for a brief time but quit because McMahon was so abusive over the headsets, during broadcasts, yelling and cussing out the commentators if they didn’t say exactly what he wanted them to
Can confirm. Been watching wrestling since I was a child, and a lot of this stuff has been openly known in the fan community for decades. I expect we’ll see a lot more of this stuff hitting the mainstream press, since Vince is no longer in a position to stop it.
That said, it’s amazing how, every time my opinion of Vince can’t go any lower, something new comes out and it somehow does.

McMahon has always been a sack of shit though.
