I’ve been playing the Guardians of the Galaxy game lately, and after realizing how similar Lae’zel and Gamora are, I know I have to reinstall BG3 for a Guardians playthrough.

STARRING…

  • Tav as Petyr O’Quill, a.k.a. BARD-LORD - Half-elf, dual crossbows, high Cha/low Int. Torn between Lore for Cutting Words, or Swords for more pew pew.
  • Lae’zel as Gamora, the deadliest woman in the galaxy Sword Coast - All I really need here is modding her an emo haircut.
  • Astarion as Rocket - They’re both foul-mouthed and quick to anger. Their backstories actually have a lot of thematic similarity, being twisted into someone else’s weapon. Probably a Sorc to accommodate Rocket’s love of explosions, unless the Artificer mod is any good. Could have Shovel as a stand-in for Groot? I may try to mod him into a gnome so that he too is small and adorable.

AND MAYBE…?

That leaves one party slot, which I see going one of two ways:

  • Karlach/Minsc as Drax the Destroyer - Big, gullible, excitable, destroys stuff.
  • Minthara as Nebula - I feel like she’d have the same vibe in a good party. Dragging her around with the misfits I’m turning into begrudging heroes might make for great banter.

Suggestions on builds/mods/things to do for maximum chaos and therefor fun? Stories of your own weird themed parties? Arguments about my awful flarking decisions?

    I 100% agree with Minsc as Drax, but you don’t get him until like the last minute of the game. I think you’re sleeping on Halsin as Groot.

    Poor Gale, though. The Grandmaster?

      I’m now imagining Jeff Goldblum as Gale and I kind of love it.

      We’re reaching for characters at this point, but I suppose we could cast Shadowheart as Moondragon and Wyll as Adam Warlock for the lols if nothing else.

      You might be onto something with Halsin & Groot… could rotate between him and Minthara until Minsc is available.

    I mean, if we’re taking mods into account, why not just reskin the lot with assets from the GotG game and build their stats accordingly?

    1. I love the “Bard Lord” idea and would stat him as an unwitting aasimar w/ a bag of tricks (Lore for the secrets?) in a cosmetic “human” sleeve;

    2. Lae’zel is definitely Paladin of Conquest in this thought project (as much as a Punch Wizard is a “mage”);

    3. Astarion as a little honey badger gnome-thing is perfect NGL;

    4. Shadowheart might be better as Mantis for all the actual use she is, and the cleric tree (ie. “gods say ‘shush, mortals, shsh.’'”, et al);

    5. Wil would be hilarious played by Goldblum no matter what “character” he thinks he is;

    6. but to sleep on a Karlach & Drax in-party duo would be a travesty, if only for the candid banter between them;

    7. the rest should be discussed behind a spoiler tag, though.

    Regardless, this sounds like a lot of fun! 🤩

    Minsc should be Groot since he is good friends with a small woodland creature that is a badass at warfare.
