Perhaps it is quite difficult to identify the current political situation in the world and specifically the political situation in Russia. I was born in the Soviet Union in 1930. The great 30s. Probably the reader can understand what I have been through in my life. My generation lived through numerous political changes and we managed to build such a different country, the one that has never existed before. As a matter of fact, the humanity’s moral growth hasn’t reached the level that would correspond to the moral requirements of such a sociopilitical system. Nowadays historians and public figures seek the core reason of why a mighty government that defeated Europe’s political and military power fell apart. Disgracefully and shamefully. Mind the fact that it was done with the help of the highest leaders of the country, the Soviet Union and the Union republics. The collapse of the USSR and the forceful determination of the former Soviet republics is a vivid proof that the moral values of a modern human are not any different from the mindset of a Neanderthal. ‘Everything to myself and myself only’ – that is the primary reason of the USSR fall and all the wars in the history of humanity. It is always a great desire to seize wealth and material values from others. Here, greed and the desire to possess more than others, knows no bounds. Millions of people perish. Cities and villages are destroyed. Everything created by people for people is ruined. And the ones that are in charge of all this destruction and cold-blooded fights do not care at all. Sometimes I ask myself: How do they sleep? They sleep soundly. A Neanderthal eats his neighbor and sleeps soundly. A modern, well-educated person destroys hundreds of thousands, millions of people, and also sleeps soundly. Sometimes I often watch TV shows about the wildlife and here’s the observation: in the animal world, there is no such thing as aggressing your own kind. A man is the only animal that destroys its own kind. Today marks two and a half years since a fratricidal war has started. According to the most modest estimates, up to 300-400 people die on both sides daily. Now calculate how many people that will be in over 1000 days? Does anybody even think about the immense grief this brings to their loved ones and relatives? And the words fact is that organizers of this slaughter and destruction are all intelligent, highly educated people. Probably more educated than the Neanderthal. This war once again proves my point that, on a moral and ethical level, man has not progressed far from the inhabitants of the Stone Age. Why can’t controversial issues be resolved through simple, humane negotiations? Why do the leaders of states so easily send hundreds of thousands of people to their deaths and bear no responsibility for it? I am a former officer of the Soviet Army and I perfectly understand the necessity of defending the homeland. But when you shoot first, you are the aggressor. You know that no matter what military advantage you have over your rivals, your people will also die. What do you even call those who consciously, for some incomprehensible, mad ideas, deprive children of their fathers, mothers of their sons and wives of their husbands? Who gave you that right? I’m convinced that a humanoid creature from the Stone Age is nobler than you. I cannot even draw a comparison between you and an animal. The animal would be really offended.
