SomeMoreNews often gets me
I like Steve Mould’s ad reads. He does science content and seems to only advertise products and services he uses, so his ads are mostly straight “this is what I like about the product, what makes it different to alternatives, this is why I use it, this is the stuff they told me to say”
He’s one of the few YouTubers I actually believe when he says a product is good
Squire’s ads are better than the actual vids of some other YTers…
MiniMinuteMan did a bit where he just juggled while talking about the sponsor and you know what, it fucking worked on me. Jangle those keys for me.
Map Men’s ads are honestly worth watching
“I’d like a subscription to Skillshare (Skillshare!), a subscription to Skillshare is what I need…”
ľll say “Skillsh”, you’ll say “Air”!
Skillsh!
Air!
Skillsh!
Air!
Skillsh!
Air!
‘TomSka and Friends’ has good enjoyable ads. They generally only have the one sponsor (Surfshark VPN) but they’ve done a lot for pushing for more enjoyable ads. Their off the rails skits are ones I don’t skip
Ice Cream Sandwich, Martincitopants and NakeyJakey have me going back after sponsorblock skips it, it’s just so entertaining i’ll take the ad at this point
you can whitelist channels in sponsorblock
Danny Gonzalez definitely makes them pretty good too. But I feel like the original ones to make ads entertaining were MBMBAM in the early years. Griffin’s songs, their stupid ass bits? The money zone had me cracking the fuck up. That takes something special for me.
Seriously, I still think about the stack soap song.
Modern money zone isn’t nearly as good, but I still don’t skip it.
I’ve been going back through early MBMBAM lately. Goddamn, it was pretty much peak podcasting. I stand by that. Early-mid harmontown, early-mid MBMBAM, maybe the first two seasons of My Dad Wrote a Porno, and maybe the first few seasons of Slow Burn. The best podcasts have to offer, I think.
Also Hello Internet (RIP).
I do this for tomatoanus skits as well, those are usually pretty off the wall. My man has an entire storyline saga going on in his ad read sections.
I do appreciate when they put actual effot in but with Sponsorblock i rarely see them. This meme still applies for when they get passed sponsorblock though lol
Sponsorblock
How have I never heard of this?! I just installed it, trialled it on a YouTube video, and it’s instantly one of my favorites.
Thank you!!
For anyone in a similar boat:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sponsorblock/
Don’t forget to upvote good segments and downvote bad ones. Segments that are downvoted enough get hidden or removed. That’s a pretty big part of how they prevent malicious people (possibly with outside instances) from trying to sabotage the network
After Ublock, its easily my favourite addon
We will dive into the history of this franchise, but fir—
The franchise began in 1967, when…Me:
On that note… Also take a look at DeArrow
Same dev as SponsorBlock, same concept, just for YT Titles and thumbnails.
Users can submit titles that better describe the contents and pick a neutral thumbnail.
Also request a demo if you don’t want to pay, it will get approved
i also have DeArrow and it’s such a subtle change that you don’t even realize until you’re browsing the Tube on another device. Hoooly shit. i could feel the pressure from all the clickbait.
For me it’s calebcity
Did you guys know if you VPN through Albania, you don’t see YouTube adverts?
I sure as hell didn’t until a few weeks ago.
Anyway, do whatever you want to with this information :)
Any idea of why is that?
YouTube does not have any customers in Albania
I’ve read they aren’t legally allowed to show ads in some countries.
Honestly, Grim Kleapers ads are almost a highlight to me. Such a memelord, wacky and entertaining.
Big Money Salvia on Internet Comment Etiquette makes full on short films for his ad reads. They are pretty great.
I was going to post Erik, if no one else did. His ads are so good.
He should be paid double for the amount of work he puts into those ads
Nobbleberry is my favorite show.
I whitelist tomatoanus in sponsorblock just to follow his ad-read lore. Thats peak advertising.
Even though he reuses a particular gag format in his ad segments, I do like TheWhyFiles ads
I don’t mind these when they’re done right!!
“Hi, I’m the Adstronaght…”
I like him because his ads are funny (like his skits) AND after his skits so you don’t have to watch.
