You are seeing ads but you might not realize it. Half of the posts on Lemmy and reddit are bots masquerading as users promoting one product or another. On Lemmy its typically “users” taking every opportunity to tell the world how happy they are to be paying customers of tailscale, Kaji or Cloudflair products.

Unfortunately, native ads exist and they are a blight on social media.

Nothing in this world at all is Free. Nothing. You are paying one way or the other. Often if you pay for a digital product outright the cost is lower them the alternative.

You know there are actually some people that like the services that they pay for and want to let others know about it’s utility, right? Not everyone is a paid shill.

Yes Lemmy is full of “users” taking every opportunity to tell people how much they love Kaki and how they are happy paid customers.

Typically you will see these type of posts at the bottom of any technology related thread.

These aren’t organic comments they are coming from an ad agency.

A few are certainly real. The point of the bots is to affect the overall sentiment of posts and influence people into organically participating and promoting their products.
