Culturally significant or common household names always found a way into literature but it is the first time I find two mentions of brands so blatantly placed that the only conclusion I’m led to reach is of paid product placement.

The book in question is “The House in the Woods”, by Mark Dawson. In the very first few paragraphs there is a mention to Hello Fresh, with a not so subtle description of the service, along with an admission of a character on how the instructions to prepare a meal are so simple even they can follow it, and a mention to Spotify. Deeper into the book I’ve already noticed a mention of Nescafé instant coffee.

None of these mentioned brands needed to be there. The writer seems proficient enough to be able to write without resorting to such name placements. The story telling is fluid, with a smooth but dense tone to it, which is something I enjoy in crime/drama/mistery novels.

Has this been a thing for a long time and only now I’m noticing the elephant in the room or is this a rising trend?

Everyone needs and deserves to make a living but not like this.

Considering the fact he keeps repeating this without evidence and Google provides zero information on it, I think it’s safe to assume he’s full of shit

Maybe read a few books and rely less on Google (which is an atrocious search engine these days). If you look over this thread I’ve replied a couple of times. I’m not a Bond scholar and replied earlier from memory. If you are as angry about this as you appear (why? I ask and shrug shoulders - maybe your sense of masculinity is being somehow challenged? who knows?) take a look at this piece https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/style-bond-branding-1 or do a proper search. Let me know if your manhood demands more and I’ll do a more thorough online search for you, dearie.

So you used an AI to write your reply huh. That’s maybe one of the most cringe things Ive ever seen. Also if you think me saying you’re full of shit is me being angry then I think you should log off cause you’re clearly too young to be on the Internet buddy. Also “do a proper research”? Really? Clearly you are too young to be on the the Internet. So in that case I apologize for cursing where your virgin eyes could read it. Go play with your school mates. It’ll be better for you than hanging around here.

Edit: man I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. I really did. Id found that “article” already and read it earlier. But since you brought it up I read it again. Did you read it? It’s about the movies you moron. Nowhere in that article does it say Flemming was paid for product placement. It simply says he put brands in his books. Which duh. Go “do a proper research” and stop wasting everyone else’s time with your slop.
