Seriously, I thought that she’d only be able to go back home in the end of the series.
Same! I also thought up until around last episode that the dad was actually not strong or anything (which is why nobody had heard of him and he had a bad opinion of himself) but then he whooped that A rank without sweating.
As a big fan of the light novel, I’m pretty disappointed with the entire dungeon fight. I like Ba’al’s design, but other than that it was really lackluster. The outdoor fight wasn’t near chaotic enough, and the Ba’al fight didn’t feel very dangerous. It all felt rushed, and the animation definitely isn’t helping.
In the LN, you can really tell that Angeline is in serious danger when fighting Ba’al, and she’s actually growing as a fighter during the battle. The final attack in the anime just didn’t have any impact, unfortunately.
All that said, this adaptation does really shine in the Turnera segments. The landscape shots always look great, and I loved Ange running to her dad. And really, their relationship is what the first few books are all about, so I can’t wait for more of this in the next few episodes.
