Ireland's Basic Income for the Arts experiment has given creatives a weekly payment for three years. Now, a permanent program could be on the way.

In an unmarked envelope of cash. Just like business insider’s article shows.

Even the soviets checked if the art was any good first.

And who decides what “good” art is? That’s completely subjective!

Also basic income should be universal, instead of restricting it more.

If someone wants to live as a failed artist on basic income: let them. Perhaps they even find an art form that they like if they have enough time to figure it out.

Why would anyone do anything if they were paid to do nothing?

Passion, wanting more money, actually liking the job you do, being recognized for your work, helping people

The main one probably is still “wanting more money”. UBI doesn’t stop you from working and earning money: it just doesn’t force you to do it.

Them not really checking anything is the best part of than my opinion, because then anyone can have a basic income for trying to culturally improving themselves.
This is such a great win.

It would be very interesting if any other income were prohibited under threat of imprisonment. It would be a good experiment.

Do you mean income from sources other than their art? Or any income at all?

Any income at all. It would make everything easier and more fun.

What would be fun about restricting people to 1500 a month because they choose to pursue art?

That can be the most significant and big happening of last decades. And of course it’s fun.
