    Explanation: Many early aviators died in crashes. However, many early aviators also survived numerous crashes and just went on to keep on flying.

      Crash now: 200 tons of burning steel falling to ground at 300 to 1000 km/h

    Then: A crash you can walk away from counts as a landing. If the plane can be reused, it’s a good landing.

    Now: Plane falls apart if initiate takeoff roll too late

    Thinking on this watching Sully the other night. Absolutely intense how careful modern aviation goes. Engines out, BOTH of them?! 10-4. “Copilot, please pull the manual and flip to the page for both engines out. Begin reading.”

    Even the stewardesses were cool as cucumbers, chanting, “Brace! Brace! Brace! Heads down! Stay down!”, no panic, no fear, clear instructions.
