I’m locking this because too many people are shouting at each other here because of moderation practices.
This is not a complaints forum. See pinned post.
What does “active” mean in this context? Is giving an upvote or opening the app enough, or do I need to write a comment/post?
I’m one of those 50k. Glad to be here!
Hopefully theres more growth in the next days and weeks. I’m absolutely hooked to migrate from reddit to lemmy, it just feels a little lonely here for now. When the time comes, my reddit is gone…

Hey look! I’m a statistic! Not the one I expected.
2025 is also the year of Piefed. :)
Is there a mobile app yet? I made an account because I was interested in the new Feeds feature, but I spend 100% of my time on the Threadiverse using my phone.
No. However there are two mobile app in WIP :
- a fork of Thunder : Pferd. (only for testing and i love its logo)
- Interstellar, they want to support Piefed
I use daily Piefed as an app. The mobile website works well :
- you open https://piefed.social/ with your browser.
- Then click on add a shortcut and it will work as an app.
Our year comrades.
The year of PielemmbinBB
Year of the Verse
Nice word, i tried to find a similar word to microblogging (masto/IceShrimp) Sadly, threads was already taken, and i do want to promote Meta.
So, Verse as competitive, verse as poem, verse as conversation…i think it fit lemmy/mbin/nodeBB/piefed perfectly :)
The entire fedi is going up with new users. We keep having wins.
Kinda easy when traditional keeps hitting itself over and over.
I suspect the fediverse is stickier than mainstream social media, since there’s no incentive to be anti-consumer, and anyone can make their own frontend.
It’s only a matter of time until these companies keep making unforced errors and people join us.
The thing is no one is actually forced to use their websites, we can all leave at any time when it’s no longer worth it. This means that we have all the power since those websites are nothing without their users and the content they post. You are also right that the diversity and quality of software offerings can only go up and we see this happen even with rather low user numbers. Imagine what the world could look like when corporations are unwelcome nuisances
Greetings everyone
woot woot happy to be here
Left Reddit as soon as Boost stopped working
I’ve been trying all the open social options and Lemmy is by far the most entertaining and active.
Lemmy is the only federated service I actually enjoy using. Just missing being able to block an entire @something instead of having to block every single community of it
and no I do not want to “choose another host that does block it”, it should be a user choice.
I created an account a while back now, but it’s been mostly inactive since then. I’m liking it a lot more here!
I’m more of a lurker, but just recently joined also
Reddit is being crazy and censoring/banning people.
