1·13 days agoI’ve filed for 7 years straight and never owed a cent. Oddly, got a little back, 2 years straight. Might have been the covid money, which even more laughable as I didn’t set foot, much less work, in the US for the entirety of the pandemic. Single, no property or other taxable assets and no additional sources of income outside my monthly paycheck from my Euro employers. If I, me broke that $126k threshold, then I’d have to pay something. Getting there. Let’s see if the USA doesn’t collapse on itself first*

You won’t have to pay anything unless you’re pulling in the equivalent of >$126,500 USD in foreign income. Then you’re taxed on what you make above that. My H&R Block lady here in Germany told me all about it when I file every year. And boy howdy is fuuuuucking stupid that I’m having to file US taxes every year. I could stop, but then everything falls apart for me.
1·14 days agoMy favorite is when Google Play Protect pops-up when I want to update Smart Tube and Downloader on my TV box. Nah, that’s OK Google. Thanks for looking out, though.
Since I so seldom use it, I don’t turm on the exit node from my hotel. Maybe would be diferently if i used it at home. Though I’m not entirely sure I’d be ok letting random traffic pass through me. I know, the hypocrisy runs thick. 🤪
But it’s a retty good idea. I think the crypto is a good reward, but also screams scam to others.
Not sure if this is exactly what you had in mind, but I have one of these devices and it does what it says, albeit a tad slowly and you’re counting on the exit node owner to not be a POS if the man comes knockin.
I suppose if adoption of this became bigger, it’d become faster. In any case, it’s easy to setup and the hardware is easily portable. I use it as I travel for work and occasionally come across a hotel that’s blocking the usual suspect vpn services.
Glad it wasn’t a slide deck. Had every opportunity to be.

I hate it when that happens.
