I’m unclear on the benefit either has one just an NFS server.

I don’t disagree that it was insane!
But no, the reason is that I live in a decently sized old house in a cold area. We’ve dual zone climate control and I’m not sure either heat pump stopped running the whole month. I do run some servers but that’s true year round and most months my power bill is in various parts of triple digits.

… My power bill for February was $1900 …

This is a better-put way of expressing an opinion I’ve long held.

I’m pretty sure it was Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. I don’t actually remember buying it and might have played Warcraft 2 beforehand, but I spent many … Many happy hours on DF2. One of those two was my introduction to multiplayer gaming, but for sure I spent a lot more time on DF2.
As for whether it was worth it, it arguably shaped a lot of my life to date. Also I met at least one friend whom I still talk to (though rarely) to this day. I would say yes.

Recently I went to the hospital for a surgery. It was scheduled for 0630 and they told me no food or drink after 1800 the previous night. I heeded that. At 1100 they told me they were cancelling the surgery.
I said “does this mean I can have some water?” They laughed and brought me 28oz of ginger ale. It was delicious.
I read it from a book of urban legends. I don’t really remember any others at the moment; I do recall many of them being at least vaguely spooky.
I think that was the same series in which I read a story about a random motorist helping someone who was broken down, then arriving home to find his mortgage had been paid off by a grateful celebrity. In my book, the celebrity turned out to be someone who is now president, but last time I told this story several people responded to state various different wealthy people who had been in the version they knew.
Reminds me of a short story I read as a kid.
Someone receives a call from an unknown number and answers. (In the original I read, the setup was a payphone ringing as someone walked by.)
On answering the phone, that person hears a voice saying “excuse me, may I have a moment of your time?” “Sure,” says the answerer. “Thank you,” says the voice as it disconnects.
The answerer hung up also, feeling a bit older.
It seems likely those goals will align fairly promptly.

I’m currently on my phone and I’m not going to try to figure out how to test regex on Graphene. Therefore I can only say: well done!

George Carlin very vocally agrees… But things get a bit problematic after that.
Isn’t almost everyone a namee? That is, someone who has been on the receiving end of a name?

Dunno what to tell you.

Once I took my wife, then girlfriend, to a Waffle House. She ordered a BLT and hash browns.
They gave her an odd look, but acquiesced. A short while later, they brought out a serving of hash browns into which they had mixed bacon, lettuce, and tomato.

I like the running joke in Brooklyn 99 that none of the characters can tell whether another character is talking about a dog or a wife.
I once worked at a webhost and was researching a problem. In so doing, I looked up a relevant error message.
I found a forum post made years previously by a person whose username I knew well enough to identify as a co-worker.
Turns out he never found a solution, either.

You know what he says. Just do it.
edit: As an aside, before I started becoming aware of actors and their names, he made me think of a beagle. I kind of thought there might be some overlap in their stories. I’m now pretty confident that I was mistaken.
We share the same dinna!

I haven’t clicked the link yet, but the thumbnail and title remind me of When Sysadmins Ruled the Earth.
But what happens at seven blasts … Or nine?
