Can’t find MVP player anywhere online
Update: it’s MPV player. I found it here and side loaded it but it still doesn’t let me download subtitles like VLC does.

When I use VLC with other apps, there’s an option to download subtitles. I don’t have that with the built in exoplayer or libvlc.
Update: Downloaded and installed the opensubtitles plugin on my server. And switched back to exoplayer. I can download subtitles now.
Yattee is so much slower than uYOU. You can also go to any instance url on safari browser and add it to the homescreen and use inviduous as a webapp. But neither one works as good as uYOU when I’m out on the road.
Even more of a pain for me because I am on Linux so have to spin up my Windows 11 VM just to use altstore.
Invidious has a bug where it doesn’t update as frequently as it’s supposed to. I’ve had this issue on both my self hosted and public instances. I’m thinking about switching to freetube. Always hear about it but never tried it
I use tailscale. Too easy to setup
Makes sense
This is exactly what I need to do. I have a custom domain attached to Protonmail. I’ve been using duck duck go for aliases with Bitwarden but this solution sounds perfect. I always wondered what that catch all option meant.
Use Duck Duck Go email protection. It’s free and works great. And they even enabled replies
One thing I forgot to mention: when you turn your screen off or switch to another app, the video playback will stop. The easy way around this is to use Firefox Mobile. Go to settings > add ons and enable the “Video Background Play Fix” add-on. Now your video will keep playing in the background when the screen is off.
Same thing for Android. I have YouTube Revanced on my Android but been using iNVidious a lot more instead. It’s much less noisy without the YouTube suggestions algorithm and you can see only the videos that YOU want to see.
Just go here and pick an instance and go to the webpage. Then add it to your home screen as a Web app. And you’re done. You can make a login to sync your subscription and playlists across all of your devices too.
Also, you could take it a step further and host your own instance if you know how to spin up docker containers. That’s what I did. But you don’t need to. You could always just use one of the many public instances.
Are you on iOS? Invidious works with the screen off in iOS 17
I’m ditching my nextcloud as well. It’s just way too bloated. I wish they offered a stripped down version with only the features you want to use.
Joplin via Dropbox (free account) is effortless and painless. I used to sync it via nextcloud and it always gave me issues. It has an iOS, Android, and Desktop app so why do you need Web Ui?
I just spun up my own invidious instance on docker today. I’m so mad that I haven’t done this sooner!
Google Voice - Cheogram
Search - Duck Duck Go or Start Page
Contacts - NextCloud
Calendar - NextCloud
Tasks - Task.Org
Keep - Joplin
Maps - Magic Earth
Passwords & Sign In - Bitwarden or Keepass
Docs & Sheets - Open Office
Gmail - Proton or Tutanota
Dialer - Simple Dialer
Files - Material Files
Chrome - Firefox
YouTube - Peertube
Photos - NextCloud
Bookmarks - NextCloud, Floccus, or XBrowsersync
I use all of these but I still have to use Google Voice and Maps because they are just superior to everything else that I have tried imo. And I sometimes use gmail too because certain website logins are locked to my old Gmail’s.
