Didn’t you hear about that about that wind turbine that exploded and spread wind all over a dozen farmer’s fields? /s

From the article, it sounds like the HPV vaccine would help prevent these penile cancers.
Refresh my memory… weren’t Republicans up in arms trying to prevent their children from getting the HPV vaccine?
Yup. It’s the same fucked-up psychology corps use for their customers. Like running ads for super discounts for new customers. Existing customers that have never missed a payment? Fuck-em. Instead of giving 1% “thank you” for good customers, corps would rather lose the good customers and pay a premium to find new ones.
So it goes.
And fuck Carly Fiorina for destroying HP.
This happens to anyone rich and/or famous. People flock to them to attempt to ply them with flattery or leach money in some way. Consider how many people say that Trump is a genius.
True. I’m gonna go out on a limb and add another reason: Money in politics.
When I was a kid, if a politician was accused of taking bribes, they would fall over themselves to deny the accusation.
Later, the politician would simply reply, “It was pay for access, not a bribe.”
Now, they don’t even respond to such accusations. Bribes are so normalized that we don’t even notice them anymore.
(For the pendants, yes there are pols that are occasionally punished for literally accepting bribes, some recently. My point is that there is little difference between literally accepting money and storing it in a freezer and having several billionaires fund your re-election campaign with dozens of legal loopholes.)
This allows The Rich to have a very heavy hand on the tiller for which way elections go. If rich folks weren’t pouring big money into elections (corporations are people too!) I’m willing to bet at least one political party in the US would be dead now.
What’s to keep Equity firms from buying those 2 million homes? Won’t that just leave us back where we are now?
Do we think we can build more homes than Equity firms can spend other people’s money on?
Yeah, FaceTime. But how often do people use it in practice?
Good point about Zoom. Business clearly like Zoom for meetings, but big business is still hammering BTO hard. Will Zoom be marginalized when they finally force in-person meetings?
Also, the last few companies I worked for that did Zoom meetings, everyone kept their cameras off.
Probably the same guy that says inflation is “not a problem/getting better/under control”.
Are these people just available for hire by the media? Are they like professional witnesses for “two sides” reporting?
A lot of this confusion is beneficial to the ones creating it. Confusing and poorly defined terms means more people spend time arguing rather than insisting the problems get discussed and solved in a rational way.
People in power benefit from the confusion. While we fight each other, we’re not fighting them.
Why does this feel like another “voice assistant” that we’re supposed to talk to all day?
If we worked from home, maaaayyybe voice control could be a thing once it’s 100%? But Boss Man wants us back at work. Are we really going to be a open-office with everyone talking to their computer like some sort of crypto bro boiler room?
It’s sorta like the “video phone” that everyone was dying to have for decades. We finally got it and everyone went “meh”. A few grandparents use it to talk to their grandkids. Hell, most of the current generations don’t even use phones anymore.
It’s one more technology that’s being pushed out before it’s baked and will likely be only really useful in niche applications. Really fucking good for those niche applications, but just too expensive and awkward for anyone else.
Elon Musk said the company’s jump into humanoid robots could lift its market cap by almost 50-fold.
Shit My Dad Elon Musk Says
True, but in my experience, selling stock publicly is the ticket to hell. No matter how much of your company you think you still own, you’re going to be driven to make higher profits every quarter, no matter the cost. If you don’t comply, they will replace you with someone who will.
So there kind of is something inherent to running a business that implies cannibalizing one’s own brand reputation for short term profits.
It’s called “Wall Street”.
Yeah, for a short time there the word ‘java’ was very ‘in’. Marketing hipsters at the time wanted to use it in everything, just like the word ‘AI’ now.
I’m feeling this so much right now. Trying to learn FreeCAD. The interface is so unintuitive. I’m no stranger to CAD.
The program is so irregular, inconsistent… Things that should work give unintelligible errors.
Sure, it’s pre-release 0.22, but so frustrating. Their support forums are unhelpful/unfriendly at StckOverflow levels, just without the nice interface.
Save me the “but it’s free, you should contribute to it if you don’t like it. I know it’s free. I’ve donated. I’m looking for an Open solution, not another hobby.
I doubt Tesla is as good of craftsmanship as what Apple typically does
If you want to maintain that feeling, don’t ever buy Beats headphones. I’ve had a few and their build quality is worse than Teslas.
So Apple has bought at least one crummy brand and not corrected build issues.
“It worked for Adobe” is all the $min/max$ers see.
So if each GPU takes 1,800W, isn’t that the equivalent of what a handheld hair dryer consumes?
How does one set up such a filter?
