163·vor 1 TagI’ve been using MPC-QT for a while on Linux after deciding to ditch VLC. It works pretty well.
If I end up with a weird file I can’t open or something, I’m glad the VLC tool is there if I need it. But as an everyday media player, I found the experience to be lacking.

2·vor 2 TagenHaha no. It would probably rat you out for even suggesting it
Suddenly the “agents” behind the scenes of your local PD are aware that it’s something you’ve ever even thought about. And then you’re in an ICE concentration camp. Oops.
This is the thought police that we were warned about. Yet seems like a good portion of people missed that all those stories were meant to be cautionary tales.

StartPage still gives me decent results, and my understanding is that it uses google somehow in the backend, so the capability is still there.
It’s (Google) just been polluted by all of the AI and personalized ad bullshit

9·vor 2 TagenSo behind the scenes we have billions of the “agents” communicating with each other… On behalf of whom, again?
So the corporation that owns all of these “agents” will have complete control over “winners and losers” at every single level of existence.
They will control who (age, gender, race, finance, literally anything) gets to see a doctor because they will be controlling the agents of the people seeking appointments, as well as those of the doctors scheduling appointments. Just as one quick example I thought of.
Limited resources? No sweat, the “agents” know you’re white so you can at least have some relief knowing that you’ll be ahead of the undesirables when it comes to who gets what they need.
Country X decides they want to try to reign in Meta’s now complete control? Well looks like all of the “agents” for the companies responsible for food and water delivery logistics fucked up in Country X. What a sad coincidence.
And the “saddest” part is that there’s just nobody to blame. After all, it wasn’t done by a person, and you can’t send an LLM to prison.
Oh well.
I feel like fucking up fstab is a rite of passage
Some things are just inherently complex. And especially if you’re going to use CLI (not user unfriendly in any way imo), you’re gonna want to make sure you’re typing in the right stuff.
Linux has the manuals built-in, they’re called “man pages”
TimeShift was probably one of the most important teaching aides I had when I first started on Linux.
I’ve been on Bazzite for a couple years now, so I have no need for it anymore.
But I learned sooooo much by breaking my EndeavourOS install and then rolling back.
I’ve only had to rollback with Bazzite once so far (it’s hard to break), and it was literally just one rpm-ostree command. Love it.
One of the reasons I love Linux, actually.
Nobody to blame but myself, so let’s start figuring this shit out I guess

13·vor 2 TagenJust a bunch of full concentration camps.
Nobody seems to give a fuck. We’re living in a modern day Zone of Interest.
Edit: In a completely unrelated note, I became a selective hoarder about a year and a half ago. I stopped getting rid of my empty liquor bottles and stopped throwing/giving away old cotton tshirts.
Maybe some people here would join me in “donating” these items to these concentration camps?

1·vor 2 TagenI loved it. Blew the first game out of the water. Found absolutely nothing about the narrative to be confusing and I’m not even sure how that would be possible.
Everyone was just pissed at the events of the beginning of the game (trying to avoid spoilers), but I honestly thought it was brilliant and an amazing way to keep the (far superior now) story going.
Joel was a piece of shit who deserved to die, it’s that simple. Even before his actions at the hospital and his murder of the only fucking doctor they had left. Even before he doomed the remains of humanity to save his “daughter”.
It really doesn’t matter that you played as him for 40 hours or whatever. In fact, that makes it even better imo.
I’m glad we got a great story about revenge and the endless cycle of violence over just another 40 hours of killing shit with Joel and Ellie.
