  • Doesn’t matter whether it ages faster or not. They always try to charge you for their maintenance anyways.

    When I moved out of my last place, the company that owned it tried to claim I caused over $2000 in damages to the walls and carpet and they would be providing the bill to collectors.

    I emailed back right away and advised that normal wear and tear to walls and carpet is expected and is absolutely the responsibility of the landlord to repair and replace. I demanded they provide photos proving damages beyond normal wear and tear from 10 years of living there, and receipts for the original cost of installing the carpet and buying the paint.

    They dropped the whole thing when I gave the tiniest bit of resistance. They don’t wanna bother with fighting when they can rip off the hundreds of other unsuspecting tenants.
