10·26 days agoThis news reminds us that solar power has been chosen as an alternative energy source amid the power crisis in Myanmar during the civil war.
“It is not like we are using them for clean energy or for some environmental reasons. We are a country with civil war. We are just using them out of necessity,” said a resident in the Bago region.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why are top university websites serving porn? It comes down to shoddy housekeeping.English
3·29 days agoThis is a security issue, not a content issue.
There is nothing wrong with universities posting pornography.
This is evident from the fact that Japanese universities research traditional pornographic art from that country.
One thing to be aware of if you want to avoid matrix.org is that Matrix communities can restrict federation with other servers.
In fact, the official Codeberg Matrix space has adopted this setting, and I ended up having to create an account on matrix.org again.

World News@lemmy.world•China condemns Pokemon, Detective Conan for spreading ‘Japanese militarism’English
22·4 months agoThe article introduced by OP overlooks a crucial fact regarding the description of the event held at Yasukuni Shrine.
According to an official statement from The Pokémon Company, the event in question was organized by “an individual certified for the Pokémon Trading Card Game,” and the company stated that this was mistakenly posted on its official website due to insufficient verification.
イベント告知に関するお詫び|株式会社ポケモン|The Pokémon Company
This was therefore a prank perpetrated by a malicious individual. It is incorrect to assume this event was officially organized by The Pokémon Company.

World News@lemmy.world•Japan's Sanae Takaichi wins a supermajority after gambling on a snap electionEnglish
33·4 months agoCurrently, in Japan, it is a major issue that her party’s video has been viewed 160 million times on YouTube. Of course, the majority of those views are thought to have been for advertising purposes.
She is a far-right politician who advocates “countermeasures against foreigners,” but she paid a large sum of money to Google, a foreign tech giant, to win the election.
At the very least, online election advertising will likely be an issue for discussion in the upcoming Diet session.
