Technology@lemmy.world•Google To Pay SpaceX $920 Million Per Month For Massive AI Compute PowerEnglish
62·1 month agothere is high military value in space based compute. Centralized datacenters on earth are “easy targets”. It a lot harder of low end opponents to strike a satelite, even more so if its many.
Also it makes the latency shorter to the drones on the front lines.
Imagen FPV drones, but they transmit picture strait to low earth orbit datacenter where compute happens. This keeps the ping low and the compute hardware on the drone itself cheap.

World News@lemmy.world•Musk says US military suicide drones used Starlink in violation of SpaceX rulesEnglish
92·1 month agoLol.
As usual musk plays the role of pretending that starlink is a civilian network and non totaly planed and funded by the DoD from the start.
He is nothing more than the sock puppet the DoD put on state so the world would let allow the usa to bild the biggest military project ever done in space without the world complaining to much about it.

13·2 months agolooks nice, but could be very toxic depending on how old the system is.
The old version of this foam did contain hella much PFAS.
You can find it now in basically every groundwater around military airfields. And there are bunch of law suits from ex aircraft carrier crew about this because they where not told the foam is toxic and they had to clean up the foam without protection after fire drills.

26·2 months agolmao i did make this edit, quite some time ago but i remember lol
It was in response to someone using AI to make the same meme (on c/ich_iel), and i was so pissed about seeing bernd in AI that i made a version of it using Krita.

Its always nice to see memes circle back months later :D
Resolution of those cameras is limited and they are usually angled down. Also they are not on private property. So it can be assumed that max detection rate of a average sized done is maybe 80m tops, after that the drone itself is smaller than a singular pixel of the cam. Meanwhile range of those drones can be multiple km.
If u had said they can use the integrated wide band SDR recordings of cell towers to triangulate the remote controller…i would have given u a point, but triangulating a drone using cameras that look down is not credible.
Depends on the drone.
DJI, yes.
Self builf without GPS or telemetry…probably not.

9·2 months agohmmm yeah it can only open new holes, but by designig internal channels between the holes and using some sort of solid state valve design (tesla valve) it could mabe be possible to still do selective tones, at this point u build some sort of pneumatic logic gate so its probably touring compatible.
