cows_are_underrated@feddit.orgto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Who needs stable, feature-rich desktops anyway12·9 days agoI think both have their use cases. Gnome is absolutely fantastic, if you use it on a laptop with a touch screen (for university, school, etc), but on desktop I dont really like it that much. I like the simple design, but KDEs customisability is much better. However, their virtual desktops are kinda ass, but I dont really use them on my desktop PC anyways.

Its artificial value. Its value generated, by how much people are willing to pay for a share of it. And as you rightfully realised, its basically gambling. You can make predictions based on the current trend (what ever trend it may be),but its still gambling.

cows_are_underrated@feddit.orgto News@lemmy.world•U.S. stocks see biggest 2-day wipeout in history as market loses $11 trillion since Inauguration Day10·1 month agoIn terms of where the money foes its quite easily. The majority will just evaporate. A lot of people and company’s may shift their invested money to European (or somewhere else) companys whichay rise a bit in value, but the majority of the money is just gone. The value of a company is a mix of how profitable they are and a lot of how much people think a company will be profitable in the future and therefore are investing into it (its like the typical production and demand thing. If more people want to buy something it rises in value).
That made me laugh way to hard.
cows_are_underrated@feddit.orgto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Almost as annoying as the windows evangelists2·2 months agoFor me it really depends. I usually prefer the terminal for very simple tasks, or for tasks that are quite complex (complex in the way, that I dont really know what to do and have to look it up), because then its, at least in my opinion, much easier than having to use a GUI. This also includes such simple tasks as creating directories in my filesystem. I prefer the command line than having to open the file Programm, search for the right folder and then again having to search for the “create folder” button in the menu that pops up when doing right click.
However, I do almost everything regarding file systems (formatting drives etc) with gparted, because its just much more convenient than using a CLI tool.
cows_are_underrated@feddit.orgto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Almost as annoying as the windows evangelists4·2 months agoIts also repeatable. Usually the same commands and ways work on the majority of systems. If you want to do that with a GUI you have to refresh a tutorial etc. Every time they change the UI. With CLI commands this usually isn’t the case.
