You’re right, but in case you didn’t know, not everyone’s clients show display names (or pronouns) and only show usernames. The app and frontends I used to use to access Lemmy were like that, and I had no idea, so I’d just use peoples’ usernames (and neutral pronouns,) like that person did. It wasn’t until I tried other apps that I learned people had them! I didn’t even know those were options, lol.

But that just makes it even better!

I second Soulseek, like another person mentioned. It’s one of those Limewire types of peer to peer sharing programs. You share what you’ve got in your music folder and others do the same. It’s been a while since I’ve used it, but I hear it’s still doing well. It’s been around for ages!

In addition to the trouble it gives dyslexic people, I also wonder how it affects people who rely on screen readers. I doubt those programs would know what to do with or how to pronounce a word with a thorn in it. I dunno, I imagine it’s super frustrating, especially if you don’t have enough vision to figure out what the hell is going on.

My app says that I’ve given you 54 upvotes in the past month (or two?) since I let it start counting. So definitely more than that. That’s waaay more than I’ve given most people.
