What a weird title. They are completely 2 different, independent things. Just to be categorized with AI hype articles…

Why is that? Most car already have voice assistants to help in tasks that would ve distracting for the driver. What’s the difference with chatGPT?
It can https://youtu.be/8PCn5hLKNu4
It is however still cutting edge research
I do, I learned everything on Facebook. AMA
Title makes no sense. Researchers did “their own research”. Experts and non experts do “their own research”. Simply there are people who knows how to do it and to draw meaningful conclusions from sources and data, and people who don’t.
For research labs, dell workstations used to be great. Put debian on it and you could forget about problems. I don’t know if it is the case anymore.
The selling point of xps is that they are light. Many of us just need light laptops nowadays, as almost any hardware is more than capable of any task with the exception of gaming. But I have never gamed on laptops
Xps developer edition has been a thing since almost a decade. I bought a xps13 with ubuntu in Europe. I replaced it as soon as it arrived though. The built in OS was not “standard”.
I still use it almost daily. Battery has gone, but everything else works
Light ThinkPads are not cheap either
Main issue of mine was the wifi card. Awful. Everything else very nice.
They probably consider that they overall lose more with strong cryptography, than the risk of other countries intercepting US communications. They must have other solutions in place to protect confident information. But they likely struggle with encryption being so widely used by anyone. Even granmas can now cover their communications without much effort
Two years of subscription buys a ps5 or a steamdeck, if one want the “easy” experience
I heard the same for people who downvote on lemmy when notified about being an exemplification of the dunning Kruger effect
That is not how it works. Your smartphone has all the dictionary available, same as LLM. It is simply something very different. People super confidently discussing about AI on lemmy are the real hallucinating parrots
The whole year. Companies who lied off (meta, google, Microsoft) and did stock buybacks had a huge boost on the market.
Stock market is demanding layoffs, from even before chatgpt took over. That’s it. AI is just another keyword to push market price even further
Compiz was cool, but beryl was the coolest thing ever made. No discussion
You are mixing sci-fi level of cutting edge basic research (fusion), with commercial products (chatgpt). They are 2 very different type of proof of concepts.
And both will likely revolutionize human society. Fusion will simply commercially become a thing in 30/50 years. AI has been on the market for years now. Generative models are also few years old. They are simply becoming better and now new products can be built on top of them
(btw I already use chatgpt 4 productively every day for my daily work and it helps me a lot)
Do they really sell such kind of information? Is there any source? Honestly curious. There are regulations for such companies when it comes to customer data

No, this is independent on AI. AI for big tech is a core product, like a car for BMW. The layoffs are completely unrelated to AI, and related to stock price and interest rates of borrowing money. None of the layoff employee has been substituted by AI. It’s pure old school finance
Unrelated news in a single title just to attract readers. Usual sh**y to ride the AI hate bandwagon
