I’m not an expert, but OpenBSD may be a wildcard option. I’ll leave considering that to somebody else.

They missed at least one.

Also, Tampermonkey, to install single-site scripts that you can customize and with more limited permissions.
Yeah, when I said that I didn’t really adequately consider what would actually come of Iran being crippled. Civilian rule is not the likely outcome of Iran being defeated.
And Iran isn’t as bad as Israel, I agree, but that’s a pretty low bar.

I mostly assumed I didn’t buy anything Israeli because they’re a small country far away from me. Intel and PrivateInternetAccess are the only two I know of (and the latter it took me way too long to realize is Israeli).

The idea I’m thinking of is some kind of fliphone combined with a separate device for everything else. I haven’t looked too much into it so I can’t guarantee it’s a good idea, and after like 2 minutes of searching I couldn’t find a flipphone that supported hotspotting.
I just got GrapheneOS, and while it’s good I really hate the jumpscare that is the Google logo every time I reboot (since it’s exclusive to Google Pixels).
When using the web installer, I recommend scrolling down to the bottom and clicking the download button before starting.
Spent like 30 minutes with my phone just sitting there in the bootloader waiting for it to download.
I’d sooner fly on the Hindenburg than Boeing.

Nationalize the drug industry.
Tenderizer78@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•What have been your costliest mistakes in using Linux?3·19 days agoBluetooth didn’t work on my laptop. Got new bluetooth card (exact same type). Bluetooth still didn’t work.
Turns out:
- The specific card doesn’t support Linux.
- My laptop has a hardware whitelist in the BIOS that prevents me from installing any other card.
- My headphones don’t support USB bluetooth.

I’m focussing on disaster recovery now, more than prevention. Prevention seems like it’s almost impossible in this age.
EDIT: I mistakenly answered based on security, not privacy.
We are not currently on track for the world to end. Things are bad, but not that bad.
Social media is reinforcing and entrenching our existing views. For millennials that all started as young adults so it mostly reinforced progressive views, for zoomers it got to them during their incel phase (if not earlier) and so it reinforces the views they share with Andrew Tate and the anti-woke crowd.
We’re bringing forward a generation that is DEEP into the incel rabbithole.
