Had them go ahead and do a rotation too, since we were there.
We have a fluffy tuxedo girl we call spicy!
She has progressed since we got her, mostly angry noises and dirty looks now, instead of outright fighting, when we have to do maintenance stuff (nails, dingleberry on that floofy booty). Actually gets in bed with us now or sits in the middle of our couch while we watch a show (we have one of those couches where the middle folds down for a table and cup holders. It now sports a blanket for her in the table part).
Love you for accepting her and not dismissing her as a difficult cat!!
Yep. If it’s in good condition, since it seems to be in a corner, I would take a couple of those fabric strap things to each wall to stabilize it.

News@lemmy.world•World Cup fans frustrated by 'confusing and expensive' tipping in USEnglish
3·1 month agoSociety as a whole reducing or no longer tipping would make a big impact. My current State requires wait staff to be paid at the same standard state minimum all other positions have to. The employer has to make up wages to at least State minimum in one’s that don’t. Which is what the majority of the kitchen and bussers make. If servers are not getting Far better than minimum (at least at the dozens of chain restaurants I’ve worked at) they quit.
Boy though, would the transition (were it to occur) suuuuck for a lot of folks. So I don’t even pretend to know the best way to start.
Should servers make more on average than cooks (who are responsiblefor both the taste and cleanliness of your food)? Probably an entirely different discussion.
Should a restaurant pay all workers a fair wage or go out of business because they rely on patrons to make up for their shiity pay hierarchy? I say yes.
I will also say, there is a difference between a chain restaurant and a local owned establishment. (Insert chain restaurant here) wants me to tip their servers 20% for a subpar service, just because it’s expected? … they can go suck socks. They can much better afford to pay each server that extra 20% than I. Aunt Margie’s diner, who always has good food and what appears to be genuinely attentive and kind staff? Absofuckinglutely.
Side note. This is also why I always bring cash for tips, that way the server can opt to disclose what they wish. A real tip, in a fair world, imho, should be just for them. No taxes, no payroll accountancy.
…that got… long. Uhhh thanks for coming to my Ted talk?
We had an old manual Ford Escort that we had drilled the ignition out of and put a switch in instead. No one figured it out without us telling them (friends family borrowing). Ours wasn’t even really hidden, just unexpected… thieves rarely want to spend extra time and effort on unexpecteds.
We used to live near an intersection that, at night, the red turn arrow would just never change. There would be 0 other traffic, cycle after cycle, so… yeah. In some rare cases I’d rather safely go on red rather than wait hours for morning traffic to arrive.

I’m fairly crafty but I may need some tips from that uncle of yours.

52·2 months agoNot where I live. All those charges for the use of their electricity here. I definitely do not have space to set up my own personal nuclear reactor on my patio. Not even sure I could scavenge enough free materials to build it, even if I found free designs/blueprints.

0·7 months agoAww! We also learned of Churu because of our elder kitty. She passed last year, 20+yrs old. It ended up becoming her only meals aside from meds/supplements. It made me glad to see her still enjoying things and having energy to get around unlike when we were just using the rx food, which she didn’t like.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•I HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM SO MANY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS FOR NOT BEING OKAY WITH FASCISM AND VIOLENCE!English
5·7 months agoI feel for you on this. We have a local happenings group for our area on fb. It’s much more of a local racists posting and saying shitty things group. Though, since their #1 rule is no reporting, we don’t care about your feelings, I like to go there when I need to vent at these asTrump.
I’m fairly certain its get a lot of fake accounts stirring up shit, so I like to find the ones that actually seem to be a real person and let off a reply with a flood of facts and reputable sources. Then I come back a few days later and view their string of posting back. It follows a usual pattern, unfounded statements, then dems are demented (and everyone not maga is a demonic dem or libruhl, which are one in the same to them), insults, memes of trump. They definitely appear to have a brainwashed/cult mindset.
It won’t change anything but it gives me somewhere to let off some steam. And they can’t report me for my trolling or they have to admit they got their feefees hurt by a libruhl.

World News@lemmy.world•Boys to learn difference between porn and real life to tackle misogyny in England’s schoolsEnglish
6·8 months agoMaybe the issues is they do believe in the bible and christianity? This is the religion that wiped out any others that were not aligned with it’s specific message and goals. It absorbed it’s morals, rituals and holidays from the others it destroyed. I mean, there was a fucking inquisition! Crusades. How many have been murdered by not following the ‘law of god’ or not being in the ‘right’ religion? Is it really morally right to treat and trade women like possessions or farm animals? To kill the firstborn of everyone who disagrees? ‘Oh, we dont follow that part anymore, we cherry pick what we want to use and believe in.’
It does not take religion to have morals. Being religious doctrine, does not make a thing moral.

As far as going to protests, I’ve seen those pics too and they are truly inspiring to see! I have imagined that all have a support system, though I could be wrong. I’m currently unable to stand or walk for long periods and hoping I am able to fully recover. Until then, Im in a state we moved to as adults, haven’t made any real local friends, don’t have kids or other family in the area, work different hours in a different city than my S.O. We are also in a red county in a red state that posts in our neighborhood sites freely, about being violent to any non-magas. I.e., running into the protesters with lifted trucks, doing drive-bys of their 2a rights, and get cheered on from the others on there. I had to go far from home to one of our big cities to attempt to protest for a little bit just so I could feel safer with a crowd. Luckily I am still able to drive or even that wouldn’t have been possible.
She is speaking up and bringing her expertise to those who can put the information to more strategic use. I will take all the help we can get.

cats@lemmy.world•Thinking of adopting a couple of cats, advice welcome.English
0·1 year agoLots of great advice being given!
I wanted to note about the litter. We use the pine pellets from Tractor Supply. The caveat though, no real odor control (per store stuff is made with baking soda, farm stuff not). So, we buy a big ass bag from the wholesale store, use an old large spice sprinkling jar that we can refill, and sprinkle pretty liberally around, and then use some of the pet type of scented baking soda and do a light sprinkle. Use a little scoop to spread a lil and it’s good.
We have 4 cats, 6 boxes. Our pine litter goes in a standard pan and a hooded box. Then 2 of the hard zeolite pellet type boxes hat have the urine pad trays, and 2 auto raking boxes with crystal litter. Almost once a month someone will still hit the floor 🙄 Our girl has aim problems sometimes, but she’s still cute.

Oh wow! People do love sharing their critters! …and I do love seeing them.
Thanks for bearing with the avalanche so we can revel in the cuteness!
I am so very late to the party. It has to be a sign that since I got sent a cute pet pic from a friend today, I should share it too though.

I think you may have a Nebelung instead of standard issue! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebelung
