From my point of view : it has a hudge ecosystem with tons of robust libraries. This does not make it perfect, but for an industrial point of view, you don’t look for new shiny clean things. (My point of view is 15 years old yet…)

Yes. It breaks points.
In Europe, we changed to the Euro not that long ago. I was a student and I used to use a shared laundry machine. It was the day before returning to school. I was barely alone in the dorms. Let’s do a laundry !
The machines were updated to get euros. There was another machine just to change the coins, especially since the washing machines only took one kind of coin (20 cents).
I put one fresh euro in the exchange machine, expecting to get 5 coins of 20 cents.
Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. <pause>… Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. <pause>… Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. Tching. <pause>…
What ?! The machine was buggy and would not stop. I grabbed a hoodie to put the coins in it. Soon, it was not enough. After what seems to be an eternity I was there with around 50€ and kilos of coins.
The thing is, harmful apps are now difficult to detect compared to years ago. The hackers prefer to get the control of your device without ruining it.
And Barbie. What a spin-off !
There are some of these pumps in France. It infuriates me. The sound is horrible.
Harry Plotter ?
If it’s time spent, you just have to be French.
(From a French spending the end of the year with familly and friends).
And Reddit killed phpBB (kind of).
And phpBB killed the newsgroups.
Etc.
You are right. Convenience killed the previous “protocol”.
The novelty was the story in FPS. Before Half Life, all you have to do is to shoot every moving sprite and grab keys to open doors. The story was a splash screen between the levels.
Nowadays it doesn’t look special to have a story. When I first played Half Life, my mind was blown away.
It’s funny how people here take memes really seriously and are offended that an AI could, in the future, create shitty memes.
OK. I am angry.
AI is only good at remixing what’s already done
That’s what memes are.
No, that’s not that clear for the moment.
Let me explain the French case :
Here is a French website where the CNIL explains this :
https://www.cnil.fr/fr/cookie-walls-la-cnil-publie-des-premiers-criteres-devaluation
There are multiple French websites that do this. It is legal (otherwise these websites would not do this anymore, it’s been a while).
There is a popup asking you if you consent to get cookies (for advertisement). If you say “no”, it leads you to another popup with two choices :
Up to four in split screen. We played it with my two kids in couch coop. We where three in split screen. Each player has one house. The money is shared, so I was working to get money, while my kids were exploring and having fun.
I don’t remember exactly but one player is mandatory (the one starting the “save”/“world”), then the three others are optional. However you don’t want to play a lot without the other characters since they will not progress (the more you do something with one character like cutting wood, the easier it is for this character).
I played it with my kids in coop mode.
What’s great is the progression system. You start very poor, having to cut wood, with nowhere to go that far. The areas and what you can do unfold themselves step by step.
Seriously? It’s the actual sign?
It’s way more exhaustive actually ! https://books.google.fr/books?id=7mWeBQAAQBAJ&pg=PA97&hl=fr&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=1#v=onepage&q&f=false
