  • Ideal is not the same, by any means, as PayPal. Read up.

With ideal you loose your money. Ideal is made from the pov of the bank and the shop selling you stuff. Its almost impossible to claim your money back without the sellers consent.

Tikkie is not the same as PayPal since tikkie only works with EU banks. (and quite possibly at this moment only NL banks) PayPal does not need a bank account. Its also not really a wrapper around ideal but thats another discussion. And mostly a semantic one so lets not go there.

Effe wat meer moeite doen en de kleine lettertjes lezen medenedelander :)

  • Just watch that xkcd graphic my dude. Somebody else already linked it. It makes the issue very clear and is quite scientifically based.

Yes, everything you said is factually true. That doesn’t mean your interpreting it all correctly. We not just accelerated it, we where strolling along the path of planetary heating and then decided to step aboard the Starship Enterprise and screamed: “MR SULU WARP FACTOR NINE, STAT!”

We’re fucking with systems (planetary weather patterns) we can’t comprehend. And to solve it we again fuck with that system but now not by adding energy (heat) but by removing energy from it (wind, radiation)

I think both will have issues. But for now removing lots and lots of energy from the system will greatly benefit us.

In the end it will always come down to population control or going interplanetary as a species.

More people on this planet, in this system will always mean more heat. Remove the excess from the system and it will find its equilibrium again.

But… Removing the excess sounds nice but isn’t. Especially when you are deemed to be the excessive one.

You want to know where global warming can lead to? Look no further then Venus.

  • When i was young we had glass bottles for everything.

    Thank god for PET bottles.

PET is just as easily recyclable as glass and it doesnt break when the bottle falls or explode during temperature swings. Next to that its weighs not even 10% of a glass bottle thus saving a lot of transportation costs. Creating a PET bottle costs a fraction of a glass bottle. Nobody ever died because of a cut vein by a PET bottle. Glass on the other hand…

PET is way better for the environment then glass ever will be.

I lived in the 70s/80s as a kid and there are very good reasons why we stopped with glass. Glass bottles for pop sucked ass, big times.

And the recycle money scheme also works on PET bottles. I know that also for a fact. Why? I live in the EU. We’re doing that for like… Forever.

In the end its not the companies who just jug it onto the roadside or dont recycle shit. It’s us. We’re the assholes. We find it too hard to put something in the right bin. We find it too hard having 4 bins at home for recycling. We find it too hard to just keep our waste with us in the car. Its nasty. Just open the window and throw it out.

Putting everything in glass will solve nothing. Then, instead of forever plastic we’re left with forever glass. People are lazy assholes. Accept it and start work on that, not the symptoms.

And maybe… Maybe Carlin was right about plastic. (if you dont know what im talking about, which I cannot believe, search “carlin earth plastic” on YouTube. And choose the longest one for the entire sketch)

Why the downvotes: because you’re clearly the asshole. Or isn’t this /amitheasshole?

Yes, older people have views from the past. That’s because they are older people. Yes, older people bitch and whine. That’s because friends and spouses are dead by now, they feel alone and forgotten. Yes, older people are not always nice. That’s because things you don’t even think about, like putting on clean socks or taking a shit by yourself have become hard, for some even impossible to do on their own and/or without pain leaving them with a feeling of loss and even regret for living that long.

On top of that they’re literally waiting to die. And let’s not forget dementia.

Now, maybe your granny is younger like 60 something, but still…

Your response to the situation lacks a lot of empathy and respect. Without this person you wouldn’t be sitting there, scrolling through anime titties you clearly like just not always.

And lastly: you will be her in 40-60 years. (i don’t know how old you are) You will be alone, your body will falter, your (grand) children will be uninterested in you. Etc.

  • My i7-4770 could do anything I threw at it. I replaced it 5 years ago with a 2700x and regret that decision ever since. The AM4 platform did not treat me well. I upgraded from a 2700x to 5900 to now a 5800x3d and all had stupid AGESA bullshit.

The AMD AM4 platform still is buggy after all this time. Why did I keep on upgrading the AM4 platform you ask? Sunk cost fallacy. I gathered it was something in the main board so I first upgraded from x470 to x570. The problems worsened. They got better when I bought the 5900 but still weird usb errors and erp (the sleep thing) issues. And let’s not forget the ungraceful thermal throttling which AMD appears to be doing. (I’ve my fans on screaming on load because when my 5800x3d hits 90 degrees Celsius my system blue screens. 5900x did the same. Never had that with Intel, that just a slow down to crawling speed.

Long story short: choose a platform with enough pcie lanes and the biggest baddest cpu you can afford. From what I read the AM5 platform once again is plagued by all kinds of weird agesa bugs so I wouldn’t touch that platform with a ten feet pole. But my opinion is colored after all the problems I had with amd.

What you’re saying is true: pay more now will result in a longer life. Just choose wisely (an 13900 is not choosing wisely ;)

For gaming the gpu is more important of course. I would go with an Intel 1x500 or 1x700, ddr5 and the biggest nvidia gpu you can afford. Yup, also there I had very bad experiences with ATI. I mean AMD.

Why 1x: if I’m correct the new Intel gen is just around the corner. I would wait those 2 months.

In your case, IF you’re happy with the am4 platform and your setup is stable… And if your vrm can handle it… Why not slot an 5800x/5900x/5800x3d in there and see how far those 300and change bucks get you? The jump from 2x00 to 5x00 is giganourmous I can say.

  • I bought the Nokia 8010 TV box instead of the shield. I do not know if it’s available in your country. Why? Cheaper and same ish enough.

I like it but “like” is all there is. I do not love it. As most android boxes it is not 100% stable and needs a reboot after a week or so.

I red in several forums the nvidia shield has the same problem.

Tbh the appletv is the wise choice. Stable, more apps, better ecosystem, better soc, more storage. Plex also works on it.

I couldn’t use it unfortunately because my Atmos setup is not arc 2.0 and the appletv only does uncompressed atmos. With arc 1.x it’s only possible to send atmos compressed over dolby digital plus.
