World News@lemmy.world•"What we are doing in Gaza is a war of extermination. Indiscriminate, unrestrained, brutal and criminal killing of civilians" Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel, publically speaks out English
1·6 个月前Absolutely. I don’t blame the children of Israel at all for what’s happening, and they shouldn’t be punished for it in 10 years (or now) because of the mistakes of their parents. My reasoning for the distinction is that if we focus on blaming the current administration, the “solution” will seem like we just need to replace who’s in charge and that everything would be good. But I very much doubt that would help, since hate for Palestinians is very much ingrained in Israeli society and that needs to be taken very seriously when considering how to move forwards.

Whilst I believe you could arguably replace Putin with someone who would be better and over time undo what Putin did, I think Netanyahu would likely be replaced with someone just as bad.
Not quite as black and white as that, but in general that’s the sentiment.

That’s typically what people who advocate for less/no comments really mean. The code should self explain “what” it does, but if the “why” isn’t obvious (i.e. confusing business logic) nobody argues that you shouldn’t comment it. That’s how I’ve worked in every company I’ve been at (and all developers around me) from 50 person start ups to >2k people. It’s really common mentality with Ruby developers
