O shit waddup!
What about them letting Google have their way with Firefox? Mozilla may have good morals at heart but google certainly doesn’t.
Big printer companies need to be regulated better by the FTC. The whole cartridge issue is a waste of resources and costs a lot more than it costs to produce.
It’s a solid browser for beginners and it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets, but I asked myself the same question about Brave- how do they make money? That’s why I’m sticking to open source volunteer-run browser projects.
I just don’t trust Firefox. The Mozilla Foundation is just a front for their corporate side, the Mozilla Corporation which somehow reaps in millions in profits despite being a free browser. I read that most of their profits come from letting Google integrate search and other features into Firefox. I’m currently migrating to Librewolf for PC which has the same framework but lots more privacy functionality. For iOS, Brave collects a lot less information about you than Firefox- check the App Store pages for each browser and compare.
Same here, I have YT watch history turned off and have ads blocked through Brave (I know I know, I’m trying to find a better browser) and haven’t seen anything at all yet, on my pc or phone.

We need to think about what people did before YouTube. It was already gaining traction around 2006, but before that you could still watch videos on different websites, it was just decentralized and videos were hosted on smaller pages. You might even see a website dedicated to a single video. YouTube’s incredibly convenient, but internet video can and will survive without it.
They get paid by YouTube regardless, and YouTube makes enough from data harvesting alone.
The only reason I still use YouTube is to post to lemmy and download videos so I never have to use their crappy platform
If you work in audio, media, want to come across as fancy or want something with a dash of Linux functionality then a Mac is a good option. Otherwise, stick with a PC or a Linux compy.
Mozilla isn’t some paragon of free open source non-profit charity like everyone is claiming, they need to make a profit just like everyone else to keep themselves up there as a competitor to Google. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Corporation
Currently use Firefox and Brave for different applications but I am considering switching to Vivaldi, I definitely want to do more research on all of them though.
It has an easy to find option to turn off everything related to Crypto
Classic investment scam- offer a valueless item at a price, get everyone hyped up about the new item which is supposed to gain value, get people to invest, let the insiders in the company know so they can sell off, then get rid of it altogether. I hope they get prosecuted for this.
There’s a difference between reading-based social media and a feed of overstimulating videos designed to get kids hooked
They also doubled as a place to get movie snacks too
Brave debate aside, at least the Brave iOS app blocks ads on big sites like Youtube while still allowing multiple tabs to be open. It even plays audio in the background for YT without premium. It’s better than nothing and it’s more customizable than you’d think. That being said, is any browser truly private?
Drink a glass of water
After reading about Snowden leaks and what world governments are capable of technologically, I’ve come to the same conclusion that privacy is now an illusion. Sure, one browser might send less data to corporations, but the government can see whatever they want on anyone’s computer with an internet connection. The answer is to take a step back technologically. Interact with people in person. Read books at the library. Shop locally instead of online or at big box stores. Buy thrifted DVDs. The further you remove yourself, the more private you will be.
