  • I’m proud of food here in general tbh, just the way different cultures got together with different ingredients and made something wholey unique? thats cool.

Speaking of that, in spite of the racism, we’re somehow one of the better countries with accepting other cultures. Thats something to be proud of too.

You make a good point tbh. Just cause some stuff is bleak doesnt mean everything is. I can be proud where pride is due, but acknowledge the flaws and pain without hypocrisy.

  • I guess I don’t understand where this frustration comes from because to me, it’s just obvious. We’re speaking English, on a primarily English-speaking website, and one of the largest English-speaking countries in the world is the US. It just makes sense probability wise that there would be more posts about the US on average. Personally I’d love to see news (especially uplifting, because life is BLEAK, and I’d like to have hope again) from other countries, but I don’t speak other languages, so I only see what people translate and post tbh.

Anyway, I’m not saying you can’t vent, or that saying “fuck the us” is wrong, I just wish people would keep it on topic, instead of looking for the thinnest reason to throw in some shade. It really reminds me of the cheap “gotcha” karma farming comments that infest reddit and make the site so unenjoyable to browse.

  • Ye there’s some of that no doubt. I’ll see random comments just dunking on the US completely off-topic, or almost entirely off-topic. I saw one a few days ago that was like “This only matters for people in the US, go post it somewhere local.” and like, that’s cool and all but I don’t see anyone saying that stuff on UK specific topics or any other country’s posts to this community.

Honestly, it’s just annoying more than anything. The US isn’t some uniquely evil place. A lot of the bad shit happening here is cropping up across the world, and y’all need to learn where we failed, or else be doomed just like us. Anyway, I think if your only contribution to the topic is “US bad.” then maybe you should make a US hate community or something tbh.

  • I tend to agree that chesee on burgers is just worse. I usually order a “burger no cheese” and occasionally I get a “so a hamburger?” but like the number of times I’ve ordered “hamburger” and gotten cheese lol.

Anyway, McDonalds cheese is fucking vile even compared to the usual shitty american cheese that tends to go on burgers. I mean, I guess you could say that about everything for McDonalds, but the cheese actually is plastic.

  • I don’t want to give them too much credit, because frankly i think its legitimately just stupidity at play.

But, if I were a billionaire who owed an assload of money to various oil countries like Russia and Saudis, while my own businesses were failing due to everyone realizing how stupid I was… I too might be inclined to sabatoge alternative energy sources by indirectly causing an enviornmental disaster or two effectively erroding whatever is left of the public’s trust in it.

  • It’s kinda crazy to me because let’s say you do want to be the most beloved person on earth AND you have more money than anyone ever, you could do that?

Like at one point musk said if there was a plan to end world hunger in 6 billion dollars he would do it, and of course he didn’t… But if he did, a small fraction of his infinite wealth would be gone, but people would have loved him.

If, Tesla actually produced a fully self-driving electric car that was better and cheaper than anything else, he’d have even more fans than he currently does.

If, he actually created high speed mass transit, instead of whatever the fucking “hyperloop” thing he made is.

He could have done probably all of this for the price of twitter, but nah instead he had to go be a nazi.

Doing like even half this list would make him beloved by the average person who isn’t too interested in him. They’d see all the good he does and say “That’s what a billionaire should be.” and not do any digging. It’s honestly batshit insane to me that someone can say “everyone hates me and it makes me sad but I’m not going to do anything about this because clearly they are the ones that are wrong.”

Like how do you fuck it up so bad. The first time I heard of the guy I bought into that “elon musk is ironman” persona thing, and now he’s just a crazed nazi I want nothing to do with.
