Yeah. If it can’t be safely done directly by an official public system, there shouldn’t be age verification at all.

51·19 days agoYou can’t expect people who aren’t used to tipping and are used to correct prices in the menu to start paying 20%-50% extra out of nowhere. The disturbing situation of the US is not their fault.

It wasn’t because she was a woman. It was because she was a freaking neoliberal.

1·1 month agoWell, you can’t be considered creative if all you do is accuse others of something you are actually doing. One thing is taking inspiration from reality, another is just to take reality as it is an alter what may point towards you.

3·1 month agoAin’t that right? At least leftist conspiracies could be more creative and entertaining than something as silly as “child molesting pizza parties in a pizza joint basement.”
That was smart.

Well, in Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, you also have reasons to collect lots of the same stuff to do stuff.
The difference is that you don’t have to collect 10 boar asses in boar ass forest for a specific boar ass quest, but instead you may want to craft a legendary bone weapon, so you need to gather bones, and you can go anywhere in the world that drops the bones, or that gives gold you can use to buy the bones from other players, or that grants a special map currency that you can use tyo buy boxes of bones from a map currency vendor, all while doing whatever you feel like doing, progressing your bone gathering in a wide variety of ways.
Use the International Phonetic Alphabet.

Nah. He didn’t have depression or anything like that. He was just the type of person who thought he was always right and the smartest person in the room. If warned about something, he’d do the opposite out of spite, rather than obey someone else.

That did not solve my boredom.
I made the cow walk upright, gave the cow a bardiche, made 665 more cows like that, and made them raid a village.
That was entertaining.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•The moral priorities of the average American
1·2 months agoIf you have to kill someone to get organs, that’s lower in the list than getting organs from someone who is already dead. Getting organs if the family gives consent causes less pain than the organs being donated, so it goes higher on the list. So the most humane way to get organ donations goes to the top of the list.
If you counterfeit, you devalue the currency, and you cause harm to those who own that currency because they effectively lose wealth, so it’s lower in the list than earning the currency.

Technology@lemmy.world•People Would Rather Have Nuclear Power Plants In Their Area Than AI Data CentersEnglish
1·2 months agoPower plants produce power. That’s an utility. A public service.
Public services can’t be privatized, or they inevitably enshitify. And they can’t be fully under government control, or a bad government can also ruin them, like when right wingers take over and start destroying public services to excuse privatization.
Without a benevolent AI like in the Culture books, the next best thing is public ownership with independent public oversight.
