A homelab can accept a lot more downtime than a company that runs business off of a rack of servers.

A tradeoff between a sweet rack design for having to disassemble a little extra when replacing parts is a perfectly valid tradeoff for me.

Hell, most of us only run a single UPS, if any at all, which would have the same limitation.

It is pretty awesome, only real problem is that if you have to replace anything in the middle, you have to shutdown everything above it too.

That being said, it’s pretty fucking rad.

Every job gets a little more techie every year. I’m sure the master plumbers use some pretty sophisticated software to plan out the plumbing in a house.

Heck, just a simple job needs planning, billing, and more. All of which use computer systems.

Even just knowing logic and high end math is showing that you’re not just a knucklehead looking to do the bare minimum.

Every bit of experience you had in a previous role can be used in the current one. Just spend a few minutes thinking of how it would work and use that in any interviews you get.

Just remember, even though most of these folks didn’t go to university, doesn’t mean they’re any dumber than you are. If they’re doing high quality work, they’re probably just as smart, or smarter.

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get picked right away. Sometimes they have a year or more backlog on apprenticeships.

If you stick it out, it can be a great career!

I clean out my SnakeBox pretty regularly. Sometimes there just isn’t a reason to keep them anymore.

It’s best to still manually remove them so you don’t leak tracking info. Google still sticks the tracking ID at the end, they just don’t show your name to the world if you have it disabled.

Also good to turn off the share ID setting just in case you forget.

Hey, remove that is= from the URL, it’s leaking your Google ID.

Also, change this setting so it stops leaking your ID whenever you share a link.

The point of the comic is that people expect a firewall to protect them from attacks, but then the attack comes in as a path traversal and the firewall does nothing.

It’s called a Path Traversal attack.

Basically, if you add a …/ in a query, you can start to work backwards in the directory tree to root, then go up again to someplace you shouldn’t go. The firewall doesn’t block this attack, cause it’s just doing a regular HTTP(s) request.
