Long term, you’re correct. The upfront cost of a PC was always more expensive, but when you factor in games, game sales and lack of subscription requirement to play online and such, it doesn’t take long for the cost to balance out before shifting the other way.

All of these price hikes and attacks on consumer rights are just going to make it significantly quicker for the cost shift to happen.

Unfortunately, I don’t see that being cheap. Glad to see it though. With everything we’ve seen in recent years of companies get bought and shoves through the money press, I’ve been wondering why we don’t see more titles like this. I know it’s all about ✨money ✨ but if you’re already shuttering a studio, why not sell the title rights? I’m sure the poor layoffs often wouldn’t mind a chance at putting the studio back in the spot the corpos ripped it out of.
