The millions of years preceding modern medicine didn’t fix it, so I’m not sure how much time you eugenicists think evolution takes

I know I’m ducking under the joke here but I’m pretty sure that case is famous enough that lots of younger people would still get it
They’re using “other” as a verb. “Othering” people, as in racism
Someday we’ll find out it’s been happening for years but the government doesn’t care enough to prosecute it.
I’m only half kidding. I mean, when was the last time a seriously rich person was convicted for murder?
“Pet” theory! Because a cat is a pet!
Ha!
Our healthcare system is so efficient that after a hospital refuses to provide care thanks to religious nutjobs, the at-risk patient has to take a bucket and a towel and drive themselves to another hospital instead of being taken by an ambulance with actual medical personnel. Maybe they were just 10 grand short of being able to afford it.
Holy fuck.
I dunno. Plenty of pro-Russian posters on Lemmy, and in this very thread. It is funny to see people arguing that Ukrainian sources should be removed since they can’t give an unbiased picture of Russian casualties, though–I’m sure Russian sources are totally unbiased, lol!
Social media is one of the central ways news organizations get information and has been for over a decade. I mean, that’s one of the central reasons Musk’s Twitter fuckups have been such a big deal! Removing a post for that is really stupid
it’s because people are misunderstanding your joke as saying “they should try not being colonialists” (pretty hard to read it as anything else tbh), and you’re misunderstanding the backlash as people shitting on dwb when it’s literally the opposite
You don’t even have to read the article. OP put it right there in the post.
the medical aid group had been removed from a register of foreign nongovernmental organizations.
Russia was getting ready to outlaw them. It would have been a danger for them to keep personnel in the country, leaving them exposed to being kidnapped and used as currency for prisoner exchanges.
There’s a chance you’re joking but I know for a fact there are people here who will take this seriously.
The shit tides are rising, Randy. And they’re not gonna recede anytime soon…
Incredibly poor headline to blame the school for this. They didn’t know the backstory of the body. All they knew was that the state coroner had sent it to them for educational purposes. It’s the coroner’s fault!
Seriously. What the fuck. Institutionalized child abuse. And then they say trans people are somehow the real danger.
That might be because they actually aren’t binding in many cases. Courts have held that if the contract can’t be reasonably expected to be read or understood by the people it “binds,” it’s not really enforceable, and 99% of EULAs are ridiculously long and legalese-heavy. But that doesn’t change the fact companies can and will treat them as such until challenged in court, and they’ll almost always be allowed to refuse service to pretty much whoever they want.
So you’d be right here; grandma’s post about not giving Facebook the right to her data is meaningless. Don’t want Facebook to have your data? Don’t use Facebook!
About as often as they actually release anything
I wouldn’t get too excited. Supposedly the next headset is internally called Deckard, and it’s been “about to release” for like 3 years now? Pretty much everything people think they know about it is conjecture based off code Valve has tucked away in SteamVR; zero public statements of intent.
As for VR on Linux… kinda? I’ve only read terrible things about it online. I have an Index and tried to use it with Mint a few months back, and while it mostly worked without any configuration issues, there was a weird white ring around the edge of the screen that I couldn’t figure out.
I’m no expert. But probably there just isn’t enough evidence yet to accuse China as a whole of systematically doping its athletes. I’d imagine they err on the side of “allowing participation” with this kind of stuff.
I’m pretty sure Russia only got banned because they had a state-sponsored doping system. Long as you don’t get caught with that, you can be as authoritarian as you want.
They literally already tried and failed with the phoneification of windows when everyone shat on 8. I guess some ahole UI designer still works there and is bitter that people didn’t like their ideas.
99% sure Lemmy has a higher average age than any social media other than maybe facebook
