I don’t think the bar is even that high. Any mismatched sex drive is likely to get you called out.

For autopilot they recently removed lane keeping in response to a lawsuit. Although I don’t know if that’s location-specific
That’s different from full self-driving
https://insideevs.com/news/785225/tesla-removes-autopilot-base-models/

It was autopilot, not FSD. It’s adaptive cruise control. Originally also lane keeping but Tesla was forced to remove that

I don’t think I’ve seen those since before my teenagers were born.
A few weeks ago I showed my younger kid how to replace headlights on his old car

The problem is you can find led replacements that fit the same base “for offroad use”

When to be legal, to not cause glare problems, someone would need to re-engineer the assembly and people would need to be willing to spend that kind of money

While there’s scenarios for this to be tempting, I’m talking about me, in my car. No I don’t want my car colliding with a bollard.
I’ve done a couple free trials of Full Self-Driving and find it truly amazing technology, but it’s not ready yet. I’ve come to realize that every drive seems to have edge cases. It may already be safer than people in “normal” driving but when every drive has edge cases, there’s a really long tail of scenarios to handle.
If self-driving gets to the point where I’d trust it, the final challenge is my car is parking. Mine is one of the years they removed parking sensors but did not yet have a bumper camera and Tesla has been having a really hard time with that. In particular, even testing self-driving with very few takeovers, it doesn’t always have understanding of small distances for parking

Legally they’re at level 2. Functionally it will drive itself door-to-door. The difference is the driver is legally responsible if they let self-driving fuck up, but the same is true whether driving on train tracks or ignoring construction flags, or colliding with a garage

I really hope they succeed, but this is a Korean company benefitting from a pyramid of Biden-era incentives, that could disappear at random in today’s political chaos

No but I can do basic math: taking a higher percentage of higher than inflation price increases is higher than inflation
…. And you need to read a few more words into the sentence “ they’re demanding higher tips”

Yes I’ve tried blaming my fellow voter, tried to persuade them to raise the minimum wage for all workers and do away with the tip wage altogether
Maybe they’ll still do better than the rest of us, or maybe not, but it’ll put them in the same boat as everyone else, or at least in the same water
And yes, I’ve repeatedly talked to my one brother in manufacturing about how much he’s benefited from unions, despite being in a salaried position where he’s not directly represented

he had autopilot on turning into his driveway?
Why not? It is meant take you door-to-door. If you trust it, that is part of the functionality you are trusting
… and people yell at me for wanting to figure out if there’s a pattern I can paint my garage wall less likely to fool autopilot than plain white. I wish I had one on those garages with raised edges around where the car fits

I’m saying they’re demanding higher tips on highly inflated food, while most of us don’t keep up with inflation

Of course given the choice, customers prefer to pay less for the same thing. That’s basic economics. It kind of needs to be all or nothing.
I voted to end tip wages, but of course I’ll go to the place that saves me money. This is why ending tip wages for all has to be the starting point

That’s one of my objections for sure. I’ve gotten better service at neighborhood diners than some high end restaurants, yet 100% tips at a diner is less than the basic 15% at the high end restaurants. That diner server should have the opportunity to earn the same as that server at the high end place, yet it never happens
And yes tipping is sexist. A hot young server in a short skirt out-earns every time, regardless of service.
If you’re going to claim tipping is for good service, then a good server should be able to out-earn regardless of the restaurant and regardless of whether they’re are “hot”. That doesn’t happen

And yet this is BS when many servers are among the highest paid minimum wage people.
And they’ve had this ridiculous tipping wage for decades, and used to be ok with 15% tips
Now suddenly everyone wants a tip regardless whether they’re a server, some tips are stolen by management, we pay “service fees” for the servers, and suddenly we also need 20+% on hugely inflated food prices.
I’m sorry but servers seem like the only part of the economy doing well

True, you can never entirely take human responsibility out of the loop. And humans suck
Even when there scenarios adaptive headlight don’t cover, they’re much better overall than human

You could, but capitalism … most cars do not get aftermarket reflectors, no one would pay the significant cost, and LEDs fit into standard reflectors. There’s a whole bunch of failure here

Maybe. the police “function” is necessary: it’s the implementation that can be harmful.
Next time some homeless person is pulling out his hunting knife to try to steal my dog, I want there to be a police presence that can handle it. However all too often that police presence does not serve public safety but instead causes harm

Same form factor is the problem: LEDs need a different beam pattern with a sharp cutoff, otherwise they’re harming other drivers.
But adaptive headlights are even better. They seem to work really well and I’m a huge fan. I have really bright LED headlights so I can see everything but I can also watch them change to keep other cars in a dark spot so I don’t blind them.
The combination of super bright LEDs with adaptive headlights seem like a huge safety improvement for us all

I partly agree, headlights are causing harm by blinding other drivers. But adaptive headlights seem to work. Brighter should only be allowed with adaptive headlights
I can drive through a busy area with “high beams” on but watch dark spots move to keep other cars in the dark
The current FSD subscription price is much better than the purchase price used to be and they are much closer to being able to deliver.
I’m getting tempted. I’ll probably let a million cyberCab users do a more complete validation but it’s definitely getting close
