It’s always interesting for me to read other people’s stories like this because I never ever had any audio issues with Linux. Can’t say the same about Winslow.

The moments I have been disappointed by Linux were the moments I learned most about hardware and software.
Linux made me switch the WiFi card of my computer, which is something I’ve never done before and would have deemed “impossible”.
Linux is like a teacher that sometimes slaps you on the hands, but who is always helping you to expand your knowledge.
I want to use open-source software, developed from people for people. I don’t want corporates to exploit my data and take away my freedom.

3·9 days agoEveryone, thank you so much for your helpful comments… ❤️ I have learned a lot these two days.
I looked at rsync and borg, and I have ended up using Pika as a GUI for Borg. I am now backing up my data with Pika to two external hard disks over SSH. Both of these external hard disks are encrypted with Pika/Borg. What a wonderful tool!

This might be a dumb question, but can I assume the keys are safe in the standard .ssh directory on Linux? Is there anything I should explicitly do to secure the private key?

3·10 days agoThank you. For now, I won’t try to connect to the server from the internet. I want to learn more about VPNs before I try anything like this. I am very paranoid when it comes to security, so I don’t want to risk anything… 😄
Why do you use Google?

Not all of us. Just a few actually. But not playing fair will always give them an advantage.
