X has declined yes, but threads is growing. Loads more joining recently as well. Most seem to move from FB to threads because they have a Meta account, so have an Insta account soooooo… Threads is a dumbed down X (I can feel the heat I’m gonna get for that) Meta is by far and away the largest for users - we all know it and it means that promoting threads inside Insta and FB means people will see what it is like. Here in the UK it is refreshingly free of ads, is quick to post/reply/interact and feels new. How long that will last is anybodys guess as per usual

It depends… the OP is also using yunohost which can and does have some issues with higher port numbers, plus you also have to factor in if he is self hosting as I suspect, some routers also won’t properly forward higher port numbers either. Difficult to say but lowering the port number is one thing to try. Too many variables to really drill down and say what is happening

and… with yunohost in most setups there is no need to use port numbers, for various reasons

Cloudflare and yunohost user here. Need to install the cloudflared service and make sure it runs and the tunnel connects in the zero trust dashboard. Will say healthy when it does. Try a lower port number, something in the 2000-3000 range is good to test. Then in the correct tunnel once it is showing healthy you need to add a public hostname (for ease of use). Say lemmy.mydomain.com, use https then localhost:portnumber/ Then in additional settings you have to turn on notlsverify else it won’t work. That should get it working. To be honest I’ve not bothered setting up various ports other than the defaults so you shouldn’t need to set up the port so just try https and localhost and that should do the trick - this could be where you are going wrong as yunohost doesn’t explicity need the port setting in most common configurations. Then in the yunohost admin area you can go into applications and open the app and it should work. Any probs give us a shout

Cloudflare won’t connect to a port number that high. Drop it down to say 2536 and you will be fine

I have a 4-node heater here, but only 2 nodes are in use currently. I got it because it was exceedingly cheap (£75 here in UK and all 4 nodes have 3xE5-2620s and 48 gig ram) but in reality it overkill. Tempted to make a solar powered rpi 5 + m.2 server with battery backup just because I can, but it will be for serving websites both static and wordpress

seen the other post about white screen - you need to turn on the no tls verify in additional settings on cloudflare tunnel and it needs to be set to https and then localhost to work. So just to make sure, the easiest way to do this is to go to the tunnel in zero trust, add a public hostname which is exactly the same as the domain you added in yunohost, set it to https, localhost, then turn on no tls verify. Should work then…

usually that means that you need to change the ssl/tls setting to a less strict one or you have not turned on no tls verify in additional settings

But here we are with that being the status quo. I despise thieves who believe it is ok to steal things that people have worked hard, not necessarily in a monetary way to get things. And supporting them shows a complete lack of empathy. I pity you for that

most of those I talk to struggle with emails to be fair… we are talking about the non techy people, I feel that is the real reason. Nothing I have seen about the fediverse helps displace the feeling you need to be more techy to use it

nope they have plenty of UK focused things. Run by a US corp of course, but plenty of local content. I welcome the debate, but for the majority of people not in the fediverse ecosystem, the numbers just look awful and that is a massive reason they don’t either look here, or stay. Herd mentality is strong. Most of them are in no way shape or form techy either

All the meta products, reddit, old fashioned forums… plenty of things. Discourse (pah) tik tok. Different but have way more users. I’m genuinely curious how they get so little traffic in this day and age against other methods. And yes, I know I’m asking on Lemmy, but I’m new here, and I still cannot fathom why they are so quiet
