We had to put him to sleep today due to cancer. He had quit eating and drinking so we had a vet come to the house to provide the service. He’s resting in the back by the woods now. I’m really going to miss him.

I… started missing my cat before I even called the vet and my voice uncharacteristically broke while I scheduled the exam. I knew what was coming. Like yours, she stopped eating, at which point it became urgent (of course), and she died in my arms.

I hope this isn’t upsetting, but solidarity is all I have to offer. It’s been over a year and I still miss her like crazy. We were so fond of each other! But. It’s getting better, and I don’t believe such a beautiful, innocent soul as hers can ever truly be gone forever. I think both my family and yours will reacquaint ourselves with our lost companions, and maybe even laugh about all the past worries and consternation in the meantime! You and him are both so lucky you had each other, even for a short time. Until then and beyond, much love to you and yours… ❤️
