In my part of Virginia, they have established noise laws. Seem pretty fair
ordinance defines daytime as7 AM–10 PM on weekdays and9 AM–10 PM on weekends and holidays, and nighttime as any time outside of daytime.
The ordinance limits noise levels to 60 decibels during the day and55 decibels at night in residential areas.
The law has a surprising amount of detail regarding things like vehicle noise, construction, etc.

You could do a manual push mower! I’ve been looking to get one, I hear they’re much better for your lawn health and certainly help with getting a workout of it.
60dB is about the noise level of a household dishwasher. I think I could break that noise ordinance just taking out the trash, rolling the big plastic wheelybin the town issued me down my driveway to the street.
Incidentally I’m stealing the term “wheelybin” from the British. I’m willing to render it “wheelycan” to localize it to the New World if need be.

I’m not convinced I could mow a lawn under 60dB,
Time to get good with a scythe
