Then which Apple phone are you talking about? The iPhone 15 is pretty much the same size as the Pixel 8. The iPhone SE is the only small phone Apple seems to make, and from what I can tell from a quick search, they aren’t selling a lot of them.
People don’t want small phones. All the people complaining about this on Reddit and here don’t get that they are a very small minority of people.

Even the iPhone 15 is a tiny bit smaller than the Pixel 8, but not by a wide margin

The Pixel 8 is 150.5 height x 70.8 width x 8.9 depth (mm)

The real answer is folding or rolling phones, but I’ve yet to see anything highly practical there yet…
I desperately miss my Nexus 6… It had a massive 6 inch, 16:9 screen. It was fucking PERFECT.
I will never stop being angry about this stupid move to longer, skinnier phones. The big versions should be BIG!
