On a pixel 7a running (rooted) lineageOS, i use gcam (without network access) because it just produces the best photos.
I wouls really prefer not to use google photos.
Some gcam versions have buried settings that can enable a third party gallery
Nothing on mine unfortunately
I’ve experienced the same on GrapheneOS and haven’t found a solution. :(
Sorry that I can’t help you but that is so low even for Google
Use a modded version from here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
If you don’t know where to start you can look at the suggested versions. On Pixels, BSG works very well, and has a setting in later versions of his releases to select which Gallery app to use.
I have the exact same issue on my Pixel 4a. Tried a bunch of stuff, even installing their gallery app (with network and everything in XPrivacyLua blocked), to no avail. It just crashes when using the shortcut.
My “solution” was to place a shortcut to the normal gallery app on the home screen and train myself to quickly switch to it.
This app is NOT compatible with devices running Google Play Services or microg
Well damn
You use MicroG? Then RIP
Are the photos in a different format or something?
No they just make the shortcut not work to push you towards google photos which pushes you towards google drive
