I’m looking for assistance choosing a specific 4070.

  1. Any 4070 exceeds gaming performance requirements. There’s space in the case for whatever.

  2. I’m an on and off gamer with a predictable pattern. The life of this card will be about 600hr/yr gaming load for 3 years. After 3 years, it’ll run low to moderate loads for as long as possible. It’ll be otherwise babied in my daily workstation. Conditions exist for a possible 10yr+ life.

Which 4070 is likely to maximize service life per dollar?

How you use the card is not going to make any significant difference in time to failure. Buy the cheapest one that fits your requirements.

Unless you’re overclocking to mine crypto at high temperatures next to the ocean or in another corrosive environment, not in any meaningful way, no.

You could argue that manufacturers have different track records in terms of MTTF, but I’m not aware of any with poor track records. If there are any lots of GPUs with defects that could cause early failures, they’re not known yet simply because not enough time has passed.
