It’s pretty obvious that you live in NATO and think that it’s good (because you are not on the receiving end of its invasions and genocides.
So, you do have an empire, and you are engaging in propaganda in its favour.

They were not subject to things like relations of severe unequal exchange, or settler-colonial genocide. They were not treated anywhere near the way your empire treats people in, for example, Africa and Asia.
And no, not letting Europeans plunder Africa and Asia is neither oppression, nor colonialism.
