Eastern US is kinda used to heatwaves though, aren’t they?
In the South, sure. But less so in the middle/north. And not in the Midwest, where this heat dome will also hit. Although so many more people have AC here. But it will still be difficult for some.
Not in the Midwest? I suppose it depends how north you are, but I think of like Dakotas/Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan when I think of Midwest. Summers easily hit 90°F+ every year, for weeks at a time. They’re extremely used to it… then they get nice Canadian winters of 10°F to -40°F in winter. It’s a crazy place.
Also like every house in the states has air conditioning, so they’ll be fiiiiine unless they have to go outside.
I think this heatwave is supposed to hit upwards of 100F, to me that’s more Arizona than Midwest, but I will defer to people who live there.
Oooo that’s defo hot even for there—I have some friends there and it does hit 100° or more, but it is very uncommon.
Midwest definitely has heatwaves, FYI. There’s an ongoing one right now, though it’s not as severe as some, the heat index is above 100F for many.
Yes, but these are worse than in the past and don’t follow the same cycles.
Where I am it is near impossible to have a whole day above 95 without rain spontaneously happening because of all the water around us and we’re facing 3 or 4 100+ days without any chance of precipitation. So, it’s not “normal”
Also not suffering.
Not sure why op is mentioning eastern US while they don’t feel even a hint of what France is going through. Check the temps, this is stupid.
