They did an exam for $59 and the. Said that they would need to sedate him in order to do more X-rays. They also said they like to do the extractions and cleanings on the same day as the X-rays. Since he was just sedated last week, for X-rays at a different veterinary clinic, they would like to wait to do that. I asked if all of this could wait until after payday, and they said “yes”. Their estimate for X-rays, sedation, cleaning and extraction of just one tooth was over $700. If he needs more than one extracted, it could be more than that. They don’t have an upper estimate.
I have video from today’s appointment, but part of paper containing my home address is showing in it. I will post the video as soon as I am able to cut those parts out of it. The veterinary assistant agreed to have me film, but the actual veterinarian said he would prefer if I didn’t film. I explained that I wanted to film each part of Blue’s appointments so that his donors could see his progress. It didn’t seem to matter to him.
Video: Here is a one minute clip from the beginning of his appointment today. This was filmed before the veterinarian arrived. The vet tech helped me film it. I had to crop it because I accidentally left a paper on the table that had my address on it. After that, the veterinarian came into the room and said he didn’t feel comfortable being filmed during the appointment, even if the camera was only on the cat. I tried to explain that I wanted to post his progress to donors, but he didn’t change his mind. https://youtube.com/shorts/uVYWdsZG7Eg?si=zM34JZ-9vFxIqfys
Ignore me in the video. There is a reason I don’t work in TV or radio; I have neither the face or voice for it. My apologies.
Also, here is the bill from today’s exam. Like I said, if we return to that vet, he estimates the procedure will be a little over $700, unless they need to pull more than one tooth. I might just go ahead and schedule the appointment for next week, after I am paid, and then combine the fundraiser with my paycheck to cover the cost of it all. My dad seemed a little upset over the fact that Blue might need to have multiple teeth pulled, because it will change how he eats food. I’m not happy about that either, but I don’t want to let this problem continue until the infection manifests into something untreatable.
How the tf can they eat kibble. I dont think they will just suck on it for 10m per bite
They pretty much just swallow it and let digestion do its thing. If you look at their teeth cats don’t have flat chewing teeth like our molars.
My cats definitely chew. It’s very audible
