Priestess being denied the promotion very likely is due to the Rank gap, although if they had someone from the Guild accompany them on a quest or two that interpretation would likely change.

Also Goblin Slayer being that guy at the guild never gets old. Also is a beautiful showcase of the difference between the adventurers who get what their job is and those who don’t. The guys only chasing glory look down on him while those doing the job, at least in part, to keep people safe value him because he is probably the most efficient means of reducing the goblin threat. Which has 2 major results those types of adventurers really like. 1) less rookies die to unreasonably large Goblin Nests because Goblin Slayer usually takes care of them before they become a problem. 2) Since the more difficult Goblin extermination Quests get taken by a single dude it frees up the more skilled generalist Adventurers for other dangerous beast in need of killing. Win-Win as far as they are concerned. Shame the glory seekers just don’t get what kind of value a specialized pest exterminator brings all of them.

There’s something really wack with the scale of things in the potion scene. Like, the potion bottles fit comfortably in GS’s hand, meanwhile they appear bigger than the rhea girl’s head who is basically supposed to be hobbit sized but not really smaller than that? Weird.

Overall the art isn’t quite as crisp but it gets the job done, and at the very least there wasn’t any scenes with CGI Slayer (at least not yet, we’ll have to see once we get more action on screen) which is a huge win.

For some reason, this first episode didn’t have the same draw as season one did. I’m really hoping it picks up though.

imo that’s fine, it’s a continuation so the people watching are likely already invested in the story, allows it to take things more slowly. Also the arc coming up needs the audience to know the new kid and their flaws, not much that can be done about that without making it half a snooze fest.

Yeah fair. I’ve been avoiding the source material since it makes me less angry when I watch the anime and they take liberties (required or otherwise.)

I assume that scene was likely censored on the platform I watched it, since I don’t really recall anything popping out as over the top.

iirc it was mostly Twitter having a break down because the scene dared actually show for once why the evil monsters deserving of genocide are treated that way in universe. You probably don’t recall it because to a sane person it was a depiction of utter evil on behalf of the goblins and reason enough to justify a genocide on them. If you were however a twisted fuck like some of those Twitter cretins you’d look at the scene of goblins raping female adventurers as softcore porn and go complain about it in public.

I suppose I can understand that response, though I do think that would add some motivation behind the viewer hating the goblins.

That said, I am 99% certain that when I watched it on Crunchyroll, that scene was heavily censored as I don’t recall seeing it, but it was likely implied while the screen was nearly black.
