Since an update a while back, whenever someone is watching tv in my family’s house it shows on the media streams in my drop down menu (samsung). I have found that this can be disabled on a per device basis through google home. But I don’t want to do that, because it takes the feature away from everyone and I would have to do it for every single device. Instead, I want to change a setting on my phone to stop showing currently casting devices.

I would prefer devices still show when I’m actively casting to them from my phone, but willing to give that up to have it gone. It eats up space in my notification window and I keep pausing people’s shows trying to pause my music. Also hesitant to leave the google home entirely, as that would cause me to lose access to our lights and other devices.

This should be a setting under “Cast Options” in Google Play Services options. At least that’s where that generic notification is on my Pixel.

Won’t affect your “direct” casting, like Spotify, just the generic broadcast, without turning off the per device options.

I’ve turned off the broadcast on every device in my world, because I found it obnoxious.
